PEP EXCLUSIVE: TV5’s new prexy and CEO Noel Lorenzana on network rivalry: “I’m not looking at competition now. I’m merely looking at what we can do and I think there’s a lot we

TV5 President and CEO Noel Lorenzana: “Hopefully, we can provide a fresh experience in terms of viewership; hopefully, we can innovate in the way we do things."

“It’s not the pressure, but I like the challenge of filling in the throne, so I look forward to it,” tugon ni Lorenzana nang matanong kung pressured siya sa kanyang bagong posisyon.

Espinosa, na itinalaga naman bilang bagong associate director ng First Pacific Company, na magiging Head of Government and Regulatory Affairs and Head of the Communications Bureau ng First Pacific.

Sagot niya, “Hopefully, we can provide a good alternative in terms of programming; hopefully, we can provide a fresh experience in terms of viewership; hopefully, we can innovate in the way we do things.

“Hopefully, we can leverage our connection of PLDT to Smart in terms of reaching out to our consumers, so I think there’s a lot we can do.

"Hopefully, we can leverage technology to provide that experience for viewers.”

I’m still familiarizing [in the business], so I really can’t say which one.

"But clearly, it’s all about providing a new experience nga...

“Clearly providing something probably that can contribute to human capital, development maybe, [towards] nation-building.

“I mean, something that can actually make us of service to the public; something that can appeal to the very big young population of the Philippines.”

Kinikilala raw kasi nila ang bagong henerasyon at “their viewing habits are different so if there’s something we can offer them, that they can actually response to,” paliwanag ni Lorenzana.

TOUGH COMPETITION.

Tugon niya, “I certainly like to look at the business [and] make it [a] very sound financial business.

“You know… financially, I think there is enough for everybody naman, so I’m not looking at competition now.

"I’m merely looking at what we can do and I think there’s a lot we can do.”

“Basically to reach out to the younger set because the younger set actually view things in a mobile format, in their tablets and their phones

“So, there’s a lot of ways to connect to them using our news content, but in the manner that they’re familiar with, rather than the old format,” ani Lorenzana na ang tinutukoy ay panonood sa telebisyon.

“You will be surprised [at] how techie the Filipinos are, especially the young ones.

"They’re very techie, so palagay ko pag nagmura na ang smartphone, magkakaroon ng wave… how do you call it? On-the-go viewership.”
