“I feel honored that Mother Lily has been supporting me all the way,” unang pahayag niya sa PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) nang makapanayam ito noong May 8 sa Imperial Palace sa Quezon City.
“Our relationship has been tested, hindi lang over time, about 17 years na.
“Through good and bad times. Alam mo na, labas-masok tayo sa kulungan, minsan nagtatago. Mother was always there for me,” kuwento ng senador.
“Kaya nga sabi ko, I always do what mother expects me to be... a good senator.”
THE REAL ENEMY. Ani Sen. Gringo, “You know what, one thing I’ve learned from Mother is consistency. Walang pagbabago. I just deliver what I want for the people.
“Hindi surveys ang magde-decide nito. Hindi naman siguro media, with due respect to all of you, hindi ang Comelec— it’s the Filipino people.
“I bring it to them. I touch their lives and hearts, I give them my sincerity and bring it to their doorsteps and let them decide.”
Dagdag pa niya, “One thing I’ve learned pa from Mother is the sense of unity.
“Briefly, ang kalaban natin ay hindi yung kalaban natin sa pulitika, e.
“Kundi yung walang kawalan ng trabaho, yung gutom, pagkukulang sa pabahay, kakulangan ng mga ospital at eskuwelahan.
“Yun ang tunay nating kalaban na dapat pagtutuunan ng administrasyon at oposisyon,” pahayag niya.
APPEAL TO FUTURE SENATORS. “This May 13 elections, people will be united and we expect a free and honest elections.
“After that, lahat sana ng mga mananalo will be one for the common good at tigilan na ang [partisanship].”
“We fiscalize laws at pag nakikita naman nating tama ang gawa, we support them.
“Pag hindi, sasabihin natin kung ano ang kulang para gumanda ang programa para sa mahihirap at ang pinakaimportante dito ay to be fair with our next generation of leaders.
“To make them stronger and smarter, safer and make them love their country more.
“Yun ang dapat na preparasyong gagawin sa kanila to make them more competitive globally.”
ARTISTIC CHILDREN.
Nangingiting sabi ng Reform the Army Movement (RAM) frontrunner,” Karamihan sa mga anak ko ay singers and artists, which is the influence of my beautiful wife.
“I became a rebel and a politician and none of them would want to become a rebel for a cause.
“I also have two daughters-in-law na nasa music— Barbie and Jessa. My two sons are artists and painters.
“My youngest son is a bass player, so, when I want live music sa bahay namin, we ask my sons and their friends to perform live sa amin.
“Three hours of uninterrupted music of all times.”
Dagdag pa niya, “Also, I think it’s a deliberate decision on the part of my wife, who [took] care of our children and grandchildren very effectively when I was absent as a father and as a husband.
“So, ako I’m happy that none of them will be forced to follow my footstep as a soldier. I’ve been a soldier for 17 years and a rebel for 7 years, now I’m a politician for 15 years.
“It has been an interesting life— very demanding life.
“It has been a part of my advocacy and principle that not one of them will be forced to do it.”
Nangangarap din ba siyang maging President of the Philippines?
“That is one thing that is not decided on earth. It is decided in heaven— everything," tugon ng senador.
“If we talk about the highest position of the land, that is decided by Divine Providence.
“Example is our President [Noynoy Aquino].
“I don’t think three years ago, one would think he will be the President of the beautiful land of ours, di ba?” paliwanag ni Honasan.
“I think that’s how Divine Providence works.
“Ako, I would not go after it coz I have done enough.
“But if providentially I am called by our country and I am invited by God [through] His most mysterious ways, then I will respond accordingly.
“But I am not going to go after presidency— yun ang logic ng buhay ko.”
SHOWBIZ CRUSHES.
Natatawang sambit niya na nag-isip muna, “Well, maraming talented and beautiful people in showbiz that sometimes I think, unfair ang Diyos.
“Some of them are so gifted and talented that I would wonder why all of these are in one person or a few persons.
“I have no particular name in mind pero I think Iza [Calzado] is like daughter to us coz she’s very close to my children.
“Of course, Ciara Sotto, daughter of my kumpadre and best friend forever, Sen. Tito Sotto and Mareng Helen [Gamboa-Sotto].”
Sabi niya, “Sa akin kasi, I believe that the intervention should be in economics—dagdagan ang mga pasuweldo, pabahay.
“I think yun ang kailangan sa movie industry,” maiksi niyang sagot.
