Senatorial candidate Nancy Binay officially acquired the endorsement of Regal Films matriarch Lily Monteverde with the latter promising the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) bet that she will be “here to help in any way she can.”
The daughter of Vice President Jejomar Binay is the last senatorial candidate to receive the influential political backing of the famed movie producer.
Nancy shares the endorsement with other candidates such as Senator Loren Legarda, Senator Antonio Trillanes, Senator Koko Pimentel, Aurora Representative Sonny Angara, Senator Francis Escudero, former Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) chairperson Grace Poe, former Senator Gringo Honasan, Las Piñas Representative Cynthia Villar, and Bam Aquino.
During her opening remarks, Mother Lily mentioned that Jejomar, or Jojo as she calls the politician, has always been a reliable friend of hers thus now is the time to “pay him back” by supporting his daughter in the May 2013 elections.
Senator Jinggoy Estrada likewise showed up at the press conference held today, May 9, at the Imperial Suites on Tomas Morato, Quezon City, to render his support for Nancy.

At a press conference, the stand-up comedian turned popular TV host told reporters that he would easily opt to run for the presidential post should he be given a chance to take part in a national election.
Vice Ganda reasoned out, “'Yong walang background puwedeng iboto.”
Prodded to name one candidate with no political background, the blunt Praybeyt Benjamin star replied, “Nancy Binay.”
At ther May 9 press conference this noon, Nancy reacted to Vice Ganda’s remark.
She relayed, “Alam ninyo, I respect his opinion. This is a free country.
“So, kung ganun yung tingin niya, e wala po akong magagawa, di ba?
“At the end of the day, he has just one vote, di ba?
“Kaya nga patuloy lang po yung pangangampanya natin para manligaw pa tayo ng mga ibang taong puwede pa pong bumoto sa akin.”
Smiling before the press, Nancy added, “Saka, di ba, meron naman po akong sariling Vice? Tapos, kasama ko si Mother Lily ngayon.
“Tapos kasama ko pa, soon-to-be Vice din, di ba?” Nancy quipped, referring to Senator Jinggoy who was sitting next to her.
She added, “Sa suporta pa lang, ang dami ko nang nakukuha.”
Nancy said that if she bumped into Vice Ganda, she would only tell him, “Hello! Ako si Nancy Binay.”
The senatorial candidate would even add, “ Alam mo, paborito ka ng mga anak ko. Pag pinapanood nila [ikaw] sa TV, talagang tuwang-tuwa sila.”
Concluding the Vice Ganda issue, Nancy mentioned that she looks up to the ABS-CBN talent.
“We have to admit na in terms of talent, talagang very talented si Vice Ganda when it comes to dun sa craft niya, di ba?”
FATHER’S ADVICE. During the campaign season, Nancy has received flak and mockery regarding her dark “Binay” complexion” and her being inexperienced in the political arena.
How exactly does she take such harsh criticism?
Nancy, who has served as her father’s personal assistant for years now, said that she has learned one thing from the Vice President.
“Alam ninyo po, kasi pinalaki po… part of my growing up, father ko kasi has been a mayor for more than twenty years.
“Isa dun sa mga itinuro niya sa akin [ay] pag alam mo namang hindi totoo, dapat hindi ka maaapektuhan, hindi ka masasaktan.
“Kasi alam ninyo, I think, politics is also like showbiz—pambabatikos.
“Kaya sa akin, hindi ako naaapektuhan dahil alam kong hindi naman totoo yung mga tinitira nila sa akin.”
Nancy Binay currently ranks third in the list of senatorial candidates in the April pre-election Social Weather Survey.
