Kasunod ng pagbibigay ng reaksiyon ng ilang GMA News reporters tungkol sa "rape joke" ni Vice Ganda sa concert nito sa Smart Araneta Coliseum noong May 17, nagbigay na rin ng pahayag ang Vice President for News and Public Affairs ng GMA-7 na si Jessica Soho.
Si Jessica ay isa sa mga personalidad na ginawang subject ni Vice sa isang bahagi ng kanyang concert.
Bukod sa ginawang biro ni Vice tungkol sa timbang ng kilalang broadcast journalist, inilarawan din ng Kapamilya TV host-comedian kung ano ang posibleng senaryo kung may “rape scene” sa pelikulang pagbibidahan ni Jessica.
Sa pamamagitan ng text message ay nagpadala ng statement si Jessica sa editor-in-chief ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) na si Jo-Ann Maglipon ngayong hapon, May 28.
Ayon kay Jessica, "Rape is not a joke and should never be material for a comedy concert."
Bagamat nagpasalamat si Jessica sa mga nagmalasakit at sumuporta sa kanya, idiniin ng broadcast journalist na, '[T]his should not be about me but about rape victims who suffer tremendously from this terrible crime."
Dagdag pa niya, "The horrors they go through are unspeakable and should never be taken lightly, especially by way of a cruel joke."
Bukod sa posisyon niya sa GMA News and Public Affairs, si Jessica rin ang host ng mga programang Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho sa GMA-7 at State of the Nation sa GMA News TV.
