Duchess Catherine gives birth to a boy!

Catherine, 31, was admitted to hospital yesterday (Philippine time), July 22, after going into labor. She and Prince William opted not to know the sex of their baby prior to the birth.

Britain’s Duchess Catherine gave birth to a baby boy at 4:24 p.m. (London time) on Monday, July 22, at the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London.

The newborn weighed 8 lbs, 6 oz, and will remain in the hospital with his mother overnight.

It was Prince William who called Queen Elizabeth, his father Prince Charles, and brother Prince Harry to tell the news, which was officially announced via a press release and an easel placed on the grounds of Buckingham Palace (a royal custom).

The newborn Prince of Cambridge will be third in line to the throne after his father, Prince William, 31, and grandfather, Prince Charles, 65, following changes to the succession law prior to his birth.
