Vilma Santos wins her first Cinemalaya Best Actress; Transit, Sana Dati named Best Films

Napanalunan ni Vilma Santos ang kanyang unang Best Actress award sa Cinemalaya para sa kanyang pagganap sa Ekstra, na una rin niyang indie film.


Napanalunan ng Star For All Seasons at Batangas governor na si Vilma Santos ang kanyang kauna-unahang Balanghai trophy matapos tanghaling Best Actress sa Directors Showcase category ng Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival ngayong gabi, August 4.

Nanalo si Vilma para sa kanyang pagganap bilang bit player sa Ekstra ni Jeffrey Jeturian.

Ang Ekstra rin ang kauna-unahang indie film ni Vilma.

Iyon nga lang, hindi personal na nakadalo si Vilma sa awards night na ginanap sa Cultural Center of the Philippines Main Theatre. Ang tumanggap ng kanyang award ay ang direktor ng pelikula na si Jeffrey Jeturian at ang producer na si Atty. Joji Alonso.

Bukod sa Best Actress award, napanalunan din ng Ekstra ang NETPAC Award; Special Jury Prize; Best Screenplay para kina Zig Dulay, Antoinette Jadaone, at Jeffrey Jeturian; at Best Supporting Actress para kay Ruby Ruiz.

Ang itinanghal na Best Film sa Directors Showcase ay ang Sana Dati ni Jerrold Tarog, na nanalo namang Best Director.

Si TJ Trinidad ang nagwaging Best Supporting Actor para sa kanyang pagganap sa Sana Dati.

Hinakot din ng Sana Dati ang technical awards: Best Cinematography (Mackie Galvez), Best Production Design (Ericson Navarro), Best Editing (Pats R. Ranyo), Best Original Music (Jerrold Tarog), at Best Sound (Roger TJ Ladro a.k.a. Jerrold Tarog).

Napagdesisyunan naman ng jurors na hindi magbigay ng award para sa Best Actor sa Directors Showcase category ngayong taon.

Sa New Breed category, pinakamaraming awards na napanalunan ang Transit na idinirek ni Hannah Espia.

Kabilang dito ang Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress para kay Irma Adlawan, Best Supporting Actress para kay Jasmine Curtis Smith, NETPAC Award, at Special Jury Citation para sa buong cast ng pelikula.

Si Jasmine ang nakababatang kapatid ng Kapamilya actress na si Anne Curtis.

Nanalo rin ang Transit ng Best Cinematography (Ber Cruz, Lyle Nemenzo Sacris), Best Editing (Benjamin Tolentino & Hannah Espia), at Best Original Music (Mon Espia).
