PNoy, Binay, Bossing Vic commend second-place finish of Gilas in FIBA Asia

PROUD FOR GILAS.

Sabi niya, “E, they put up a good fight. Kulang-kulang sila… with all injuries, they put up a good fight.

“Nothing to be ashamed of, very proud.

“Matagal-tagal na tayong hindi nagku-qualify sa World Cup so this is historical for all Filipinos.”

Sabi naman ni GMA Films President Atty. Annette Gozon-Abrogar, “Nakikita natin na yung puso talaga nandun, very proud of them and masaya yung buong Pilipinas dahil sa na-achieve nila.”

THE PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT.

Sabi naman ni Pangulong Aquino, “We won the silver position or the first runner-up position.

“We are not yet blessed with the height necessary to become a dominant power in the world of basketball. We even lost our center due to an injury.

“And... [it was] really encouraging, at least on my part, to view our countrymen not giving in to a sense of, perhaps, defeat, by just accepting the fact that these guys are above seven-feet tall and they’re really kinda difficult to beat."

Dagdag pa ni PNoy, “But up to the last few seconds, they never gave up. They showed the respect that was earned by their play in previous games. They were not treated as an unworthy opponent by our opponents.

“So give the Filipino the right environment and you will be surprised at what he will deliver.”

Patawa pa nito, “Last night, when I was encouraged to attend the basketball game, either chief booster and lucky charm—or since we didn’t win—perhaps now I being blamed for our loss last night.”
