Sam Milby replaces Piolo Pascual as Eugene Domingo’s leading man in Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel

Sam Milby will be starring in the Metro Manila Film entry Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel, and he will be reunited with Anne Curtis for the movie tentatively titled The Gifted.

Eugene Domingo believes Sam Milby is “perfect” to be her leading man in the Metro Manila Film Festival 2013 entry Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel.

Piolo Pascual was supposed to star in the third instalment of the Kimmy Dora franchise but the actor had to let go of the project because of scheduling problems.

Piolo is currently promoting the prison drama OTJ (On The Job) and he is currently shooting for his upcoming movie with Toni Gonzaga.

Eugene and Sam had their look test for the comedy film yesterday, August 13, at the G-Force Studio in Quezon City.

Uge (Eugene’s nickname) pointed out, “Sa Kimmy Dora prequel, Sam will be playing a very, very challenging role.”

What can viewers expect from this movie?

THE PROMISE. Uge explained that she is doing Kimmy Dora for the MMFF to fulfil her promise to Spring Films, the production outfit composed of Piolo, Erickson Raymundo, Shayne Sarte, and Joyce Bernal.

“Dapat ang Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme ay MMFF pero yung schedule ko ang problema noon.

"This is a promise that I made to Spring Films and this is the third and the last [installment].

“Yun ang ipinangako ko kay Piolo at sa Spring Films na makasama sa Film Fest. Masaya talaga pag Pasko at alam ko aabangan ng lahat ang Kimmy Dora.

Unlike her past films, Uge said that she will not have torrid kissing scenes with her leading man this time.

“Walang torrid kissing…pero may ibang part na iki-kiss,” teased Uge.

What made Eugene decide to make this film the last instalment of Kimmy Dora?

“Para sa akin kasi 1, 2, 3 okay na. Tamang-tama ang script ni Chris Martinez na ito na ang pinaka-last.

"I’m very happy that Sam Milby accepted it.

“Believe it or not, Sam is perfect for the role.”

Sam, on the other hand, said, “And that means a lot.”

Uge reiterated that this will be the last time she will be bringing life to the twins Kimmy and Dora.

“Hindi na rin kaya ng leeg ko!” quipped Uge as she demonstrated the way Dora would twist her neck as she spoke.

The movie will take place a few years before the first Kimmy Dora, which is why Eugene will have to be made to look younger in the movie.

Does she think she will have a hard time looking younger for the movie?

“Hindi naman kasi ang metabolic age ko 18 [years old]!” joked Uge.

KIMMY DORA FAN. For his part, Sam feels “excited” and “pressured” to be chosen as the replacement of Piolo in Kimmy Dora 3.

“I’m very excited. I’m a fan of Kimmy Dora talaga,” said the Kapamilya actor.

“Yung success ng first two [installments], nakakatulong talaga yun.

"I mean, Kimmy Dora is already established and people really loved it, accepted it.

"Ako rin, I’m a fan, so I think that will also help a lot for this third sequel,” pointed out the Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala star.

ON ANNE CURTIS. Meanwhile, Sam will be reunited with his ex-girlfriend Anne Curtis in the upcoming movie tentatively titled The Gifted.

He will also have Cristine Reyes as his co-star in this movie produced by Viva Films.

Sam said, “Ang movie na gagawin ko with Anne, si Direk Chris Martinez rin magiging director so magiging swak talaga ang schedule namin.”

How is his working relationship with Anne now?

“Hindi pa kami nag-shooting, although nag-story con [conference] na kami.

“Kung three years ago, medyo hindi pa tamang oras na gawin ang movie, pero ngayon okay na okay kami.”

Sam looked back on the time when he shot the movie Babe I Love You (2010) with Anne after they broke up.

“Medyo awkward time yun noong ginagawa namin ang Babe I Love You kasi kaka-break lang namin nun.

"Nahirapan kami sa set. It was hard for us to work together at that time but it actually came out okay.

“Actually, dahil sa movie na yun, naging okay kami. But masyadong fresh nung time na yun.

"But ito, we’ve both moved and we’re both okay. Yung working relationship namin, okay na okay.”

How did Sam deal with the awkwardness between him and his ex-girlfriend?

“Hindi namin kami nagkikita, e. That time, nag Showtime siya, ako nag-ASAP.

"We just didn’t really see each other at all. Siguro that helped.”
