Masaya si Phil Younghusband nang makausap ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa press conference ng inorganisang match challenge ng isang endorsement nila ng kapatid na si James kanina, Agosto 22, Huwebes, sa Makati Shangri-La.
Ito ay dahil nakilala at makakalaro pa nila ang dalawang international football superstars na sina Fabio Cannavaro at Daniel Wise sa Sabado, August 26.
“I think it’s great… for the awareness of Philippine football,” simula ni Phil sa pakikipag-usap sa kanya ng PEP sa Clear Dream Match press conference.
Patuloy niya, “Si Dennis idolo ko dati, so it’s a great chance to be able to play with him, and then learn from him.
"And then Fabio, World Cup winner na siya. Champion na siya ng FIFA [Fédération Internationale de Football Association] World Cup.
"So it’s a great opportunity and privilege to meet both of them.”
Unti-unti ay nakikilala na rin ang football sa bansa, at malaki ang naiambag ng magkapatid na Younghusband dito.
Ano ang pakiramdam ni Phil dito?
Tugon niya, “It makes us really happy and really proud, and sana it can continue the progression, it can continue to grow.
"For us to see something we love [progress], in the country we love, it’s a dream come true and it does bring a smile to our face and it makes us really happy.”
Naibahagi rin ng Fil-British Azkals player na bilib siya kina Cannavaro at Wise dahil mapagpakumbaba raw ang mga ito kahit mga sikat na football players.
LOOKS UP TO ANGEL. Speaking of doing something for a good cause, natanong din si Phil hinggil sa pagiging aktibo ng girlfriend niyang si Angel Locsin nitong mga nakaraang araw sa pagtulong sa mga taong nasalanta ng matinding ulan at baha dahil sa bagyong Maring at hanging Habagat.
Bukod sa paggamit ng social media sa pagbibigay-impormasyon sa mga apektadong lugar, lumusong din ang aktres sa kasagsagan ng unos para makatulong sa mga nasalanta.
Pagbibida ni Phil sa kasintahan, “Angel, she’s an inspiration for me and she’s someone I look up to and admire.
"And she affects me in a positive way when I see her do all these positive works.
“She leads by example and she makes me want to help, she’s like that to everyone.”
Sinabi rin ni Phil na sa gagawin nilang football match sa Sabado, 50 percent ng kanilang ticket sales ay ido-donate sa flood victims.
Sinabi rin ni Phil na sinamahan niya si Angel upang kahit paano ay matulungan ito.
“Two nights ago, I was with her, but siyempre I have this event.
“Three days na… three days siyang tumutulong. She’s packing, she’s distributing, she’s donating, she’s leading, she’s coordinating.
"She’s doing everything, so lahat ginagawa niya.
“So as I’ve said, she’s a positive influence and I’m doing my part as well.
"I was with her with the Red Cross the other night,” banggit pa ni Phil.
