Yasmien Kurdi was a refreshing sight at the birthday party of Ogie Alcasid last August 28, at the Wil’s Events Place.
Aside from sporting a slimmer figure, she looked very happy beside her husband, Rey Soldevilla Jr.
The StarStruck Batch 1alumna told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), “I’m very content, and very inspired.”
If not for her hiatus, she could have been one of the biggest stars of GMA-7 by now.
In 2007, after the success of her portrayal as Charming in Bakekang, the Kapuso network gave her the “Drama Princess” tag, playing lead in the daytime series Pati Ba Pintig ng Puso, Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig, Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Ka, Saan Darating ang Umaga, and Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin.
Yasmien also gave recording a shot, and came up with familiar tunes “I Know” and “In the Name of Love.”
At the height of her career, she decided to lie low in 2010.
Her reason: “Nag-aral naman kasi ako, e…”
And looking back, “… wala naman akong regrets na nag-aral ako ng Nursing.”
The break gave her the time to know what her heart truly desires.
Some would say she made the decision at the wrong time…
Yasmien threw in, “Wala namang naging problema.
COMEBACK. And after finishing her course, finding love, and becoming a mom, she deemed it “perfect timing” to become visible again.
She also realized one thing: “Gusto ko talagang showbiz.”
So even when her life was away from the limelight, “yung mga tao, nagpapa-picture pa rin sa iyo, hindi pa rin ako tinitigilan ng mga write-ups, gano’n…”
But she’s glad she was able to experience both worlds, and figure out her place in the sun.
“I think, ngayon, na-realize ko buong-buo na gusto ko ‘to, gusto ko yun craft ko, like, ang sarap umarte!
“Ngayon sa Anna Karenina, ang sarap!”
In the said series, she’s playing the role of Margarita “Maggie” Monteclaro, the mother of the real Anna Karenina.
“And wala ka pang focus that time.
“Tapos ngayon, so hindi pa naman ako ganun katanda, in my experiences in life, parang sabi ko, ‘eto pala yung natutulong ng experiences, nalalaman mo kung saan ka magpo-focus.”
CONTRACT. Having said that, one of her immediate goals is to find a network.
If she’ll have her way, “Sana GMA pa rin.”
Yasmien added, “…uhm, I hope, ayun po, meron po akong next project, after Anna Karenina.
“I hope so, I hope so.
“Pero ngayon kasi, wala pa akong contract with any network, and I don’t know kung ano po yung, uhm, susunod gawin [after] Karenina.”
