Indie star Annicka Dolonius on joining mainstream showbiz: “It keeps me on my toes.”

Best known for her well-received stint in Cinemalaya’s Ang Nawawala, Annicka Dolonius ventures into mainstream television via the GMA weekend series, Dormitoryo. “Being on the set shooting an indie film is very different from taping a show. So, it’s different. But it’s interesting. It keeps me on my toes.”

“This is my first project. Because I worked on teleseryes before, but I come in the middle. So, it’s nice to be part from the beginning. I like the concept.

“I’ve been doing indie films for a couple of years and commercials, things like that. Last year, I did Ang Nawawala for Cinemalaya.

“After that came GMA. David from Artist Center asked me to come in. We started talking and he invited me to be part of the Artist Center,” kuwento niya.

PASSION FOR ACTING.

“After high school, I actually wanted to go to drama school. But I didn’t audition very well,” pag-amin niya.

“Solenn [Heussaff], because I know when she started, her Tagalog was a little shaky. And now she learned. She spent a lot of time on TV. That’s something I really look up to,” sagot ng Kapuso star.

“Oh, I don’t know. Right now, I’d like to try everything that I can. I would like a variety,” patuloy ng dalaga.

“I’m still experiencing it. It’s new. It’s not something that I’m used to. I’m still trying to figure out how it works.

“Being on the set shooting an indie film is very different from taping a show.

“So, it’s different. But it’s interesting. It keeps me on my toes,” saad niya.

LIFE BEFORE SHOWBIZ.

“Growing up, we moved around a lot. I always went to international schools.

“It’s because of my father’s work. He was a banker and then he became a businessman. It required us to move around,” kuwento pa ni Annicka.

“When you live in different places, you learn to adjust. You learn how to be flexible. You learn how to meet people, make new friends, and you learn how to keep old friends.

“And you just really learn how to value your family. Even though you’re moving around a lot, you’re still with your family.

“My mom’s Filipina. All my family’s here so I decided to come back and stay for good,” dagdag pa niyang kuwento.

IN A RELATIONSHIP.

Sabi pa niya, “He’s very supportive with what I do. He gave me a lot of encouragement.

“But I wouldn’t say he tags along. He’s not like he carries my stuff around.”

“I never really thought about that. As far as relationships are concerned, I always felt that whether or not you have the same line of work, as long as you two click, you mesh together, you have great chemistry. you respect each other, I think that’s the most important thing,” pangwakas niyang pahayag.
