Bamboo Mañalac on “Prince of Rock” title: “It humbles you when people say that.”

Sabi niya, “Martin... just seeing him perform or even off-camera, the energy he puts out, it’s amazing, it’s very inspiring. You call him ‘The Big Mouth,’ but look when he sings—so full of emotions—grabe talaga ang dating. Wooo!”

“Why not? It’s such a dream of any singer to just continue our work. Brings out the best in us. It’s a gift," sagot ng 37-year-old The Voice of the Philippines judge/mentor.

“Martin... just seeing him perform or even off-camera, the energy he puts out, it’s amazing, it’s very inspiring.

“It’s something that we could learn. Iba talaga siya.

“He’s full of... Yeah, you call him ‘The Big Mouth,’ but look when he sings—so full of emotions—grabe talaga ang dating. Wooo!”

DIFFERENT GENRES.

“Yung genre ko kasi, I listen to a lot of music.

“Kami naman ni Martin, we can do Frank Sinatra, madali na yun sa amin, e.

“But then, may kanya-kanya kaming choices of music and that’s what we are," patuloy ng tinaguriang "Philippine Prince of Rock."

“Oh, man...that’s very flattering,” nahihiya habang nakangiting saad niya.

“I’m just myself. I’ve always tried to be myself.

Or, what makes me different from the other artists.

“I just love music but I’m just a big fan [of Martin]. That’s why I’m here [sa concert].

“I’m a music fan first and foremost, that’s why I do love performing also.”

IMPRESSIVE DUETS.

Natatawang komento ng dating Rivermaya lead singer, “I don’t really mind.

“If they would come up to me, naiintindihan ko sila.

“Ako naman on my part, I enjoy entertaining them—that’s my role. I just smile and wala pa namang nag-’go beyond.’

“I think, with my kind of music, mas happy ako if I see them like, going crazy.

“Kasi, as artists, we’re here na i-entertain and make them... kailangang mag-enjoy sila.

“Or else, madi-disappoint ako when, you know, I’m doing my best to have a time of their lives, ’tapos, nakatingin lang... flat reaction... I’ll be sad.”

SOLOS.

Paliwanag niya, “I wanna try different genres.

“I think mas maganda ang nangyayari kasi natututo talaga ako.

“But because of the show, it was brought to me and I love it... it’s a treat.

“At saka, ang gusto ko sa kanila, yung family environment, and it really feels good to be a part of it.

“It’s a family... I think, it’s the reason why I love doing that show.

“At saka, people see a different side of me. Hindi lang music, e.”

VOP JUDGE-MENTOR. Kasama si Bamboo bilang judge/mentor sa programa ng ABS-CBN na The Voice of the Philippines. Bakit gustung-gusto niya ang trabaho niya rito?

“Yeah, of course, I do love that show also,” umpisang saad niya.

“You know, yung matulungan mo ang mga talented na Pinoys pursue their dreams... oh, man.

“I guess I’m in the moment right now—nangyayari’t nangyayari ang lahat na dati I can’t see from afar.

“As long as nakakapagpasaya ako ng tao, I think, I connect that way.

“I love it. We’re nearing our final night.

“I’m excited for that, ang gagaling nilang lahat, they sing the songs from their hearts.

“Wow, grabe talaga!

“Well, I’m happy for all of them, yung exposure na nakuha nila, ang ganda talaga, e.

“Kahit natanggal na yung ibang contestants, I know that at a certain point ay makiita ko pa rin sila.”

“Of course, of course,” bulalas niya. “I’m also competitive.

“Yun ang ano, e... it’s all in the hands of the singers at sa mga boboto sa kanila, but I’m there to guide them.

“That would be a great feather in my cap. So, sana...sana.

“In my team, I have great artists, potential recording artists.”

“Wala naman, we’re very friendly with each other,” pagsisiguro niya.

“Walang ano... we’re just having a great time there.

TITLE.

Nahihiyang sabi ni Bamboo, “Oh, thanks for bringing that up.

“I don’t know. Am I comfortable? I think that’s interesting. It humbles you when people say that.

“More than anything else, I’m enjoying my job. I love people when they enjoy with me—I think that’s the best thing.”
