“The fact that I got on BBC was just amazing. It was fantastic. It was such an experience for me.
“I was shaking a bit at first when I got on stage. But I enjoyed doing stuff like that because it reminds me of what I do back home.
Ani Megan, “I did meet a lot of important people. I got to meet the heads of companies, owners of television networks from Europe, South America, from all over the globe.
"It was really interesting, fun, and exciting because I got to talk to each one of them. They’re all just really charming.”
“I love Cannes! Cannes is such a beautiful place. It looks very romantic. You walk down the street and you feel like you’re on a movie.
“I did have a very lovely dessert there. It was one of the best ever. I love dessert, who doesn’t?
"It was a very nice day to walk down around the city and to enjoy the MIPCOM,” nakangiting turan niya.
“I was very excited when they told me that we’re going to Kenya and Tugana. I’ve always wanted to go to those parts of Africa.
“It’s exciting to explore different places, different continents, different countries, aside from Asia. I’ve almost gone into all of the countries in Asia.
"So, it’s nice to experience different cultures, different languages, and different people.
"I’m very excited for all our tours. I can’t pick a favorite.”
BEAUTY WITH A PURPOSE.
Paliwanag niya, “Aside from being the first Filipina to be Miss World, I think it’s being able to send that message to people in what Miss World is all about.
"That it’s not just me being this image or this figure that’s able to contribute to so much in charities. But it’s also about getting people involved.
"That’s what I want to do, to get people involved in the organization.”
“Before going to Bali, Indonesia, I was very active in social media in the first place. I told myself that I’ll promote Miss World, whether or not I win the pageant.
“I think social media has a big part in what we’re doing today with the organization. Because it’s the message that you give out, it’s the reach that social media actually does around the globe.
“If you have this message from the Philippines, it can reach Europe, the Caribbean—all different countries.
“It makes so much difference because people now are in the know. People are active and they want to be part of it.
“Being that person to send that message out, it’s a responsibility, and I’m excited to take on that responsibility.”
UNANIMOUS CHOICE.
Lahad ni Cory: “She’s like a magnet. She just attracts a lot of people. And everyone just wanted to be part of her life. Everyone came forward to volunteer to help her.
“Everywhere I go, after the Miss World-Philippines pageant, people will come up to me and say ’she’s the one.’
“For the very first time in my life, I had such a strong feeling. I guess it’s discernment or it’s the presence of grace.
"I just knew that Megan is the one—that she would be the one to bring home the crown.
“It was more than a feeling, more than an intuition. And it is the combined effort of Filipinos who prayed for her.”
Ani Julie: “You might be interested to know that we interview more than once [before the actual competition].
"We’re not just interested with a pretty face. We’re interested in a person with a good heart and lively personality. Someone who can put across the message that we need.
“Megan was at the top in the [preliminary] interview. And during the competition, I think you’ll probably agree that she’s at the top of everyone’s list. She’s the unanimous choice.”
CRITICISMS.
Sabi ni Divina: “Miss Philippines is Miss World? What a joke! I did not know those maids have anything else in them, Ha Ha Ha!”
I really appreciate all the kind words.
“But I do appreciate the criticisms as well because it helped me become a stronger person.
“And I don’t know what else to say, but thank you to everyone that has followed the journey. I hope they all continue to follow me in Miss World,” masayang saad ni Megan.
Saad ng Miss World-Philippines organizer: “I think a pageant is more than just what people think. That is, a superficial event of just beauty and a parade of bikinis or swimsuits.
“I think the woman that represents her country becomes the ambassador of goodwill and tourism and love and healing.
“And so, the title and the crown can represent something that bring people together for a greater cause. That’s exactly what Miss World is all about—beauty with a purpose.”
