Celebrities from warring networks gather to pay tribute to teachers all over the country

Edu: You know, sometimes to this day, hindi ko pa rin ma-explain kung ano yung psyche ng teachers, e. Why do they give so much of their lives for people that sometimes don’t know how to appreciate it?”

Rocco Nacino, Daniel Matsunaga, Edward Mendez, Matteo Guidicelli, John James Uy, Venus Raj, Shamcey Supsup, Bianca Manalo, Smart Gilas Pilipinas Team at marami pang iba.

Present din sa event sina PLDT Chairman at TV5 big boss Manny V. Pangilinan, 2G Chairman Chaye Cabal-Revilla, at PLDT vice president and head of HOME broadband Gary Dujali.

“Yeah, you’re right, everybody here are from different channels.

“I take pride in being a Kapamilya but I would do this again with Edu, with Richard, these are my brothers in the business. And it’s for a great cause. They’re [the teachers] all responsible for the future leaders of this country.”

Ayon naman kay Edu, “Ako, I would like to appeal to all networks.

“You know, minsan hindi talaga nakakatulong itong network war, e. I’ve seen it, minsan pami-pamilya pa ang nahihiwalay gaya ng isang pamilya ay nasa isang network, yung isa ay nasa kabilang network.

“You know, at the end of the day it’s family. The artists, itong ginagawa naming ganito, we should do this more often. Kasi kung talagang gugustuhin po natin na maging bahagi ng nation-building, it’s through events like this.

At saka it’s not all about money, we also have to give back.”

GIVING BACK TO TEACHERS.

Sabi ni Martin, “It’s an honor. Alam mo lahat ng mga teachers, yung mga guro, sila ang hari, for me ha. They are our living heroes.

“Anything that has to do with educating or grooming the future leaders of this world, ganun kalaki ang responsibility ng mga guro, di ba?

“So, for us dito sa showbiz na some of us didn’t finish college, some of us di ba naghu-home school, we are really honored and take pride in being part of this show.”

Ayon naman kay Pops, “Siyempre it’s a nice way talaga to thank all the teachers kasi habang lumalaki tayo, di ba, sila yung mga kasama natin palagi aside from our parents, of course.

“So, I have a lot of very good teachers, who have been very patient, very dedicated, matiyaga talaga sila.

Pahayag pa ni Richard, “Siyempre excited to give back to teachers. I would say second parents talaga natin yung mga teachers, e.

“Come to think of it, simula bata ka at habang nag-aaral ka, you spend more time with your teachers than with your parents, di ba?”

“We can’t forget the fact na when our parents ay naghahanap ng pang-matrikula, sila e talagang nag-aalaga sa atin.

“And I think it’s time to do something about it, hindi lang sa pagbibigay-pugay o sa pagbibigay ng parangal, taasan na natin ang suweldo.

“They’re the first to arrive and the last to leave in school, and then they work on weekends checking yung ating mga homeworks.

“You know, sometimes to this day, hindi ko pa rin ma-explain kung ano yung psyche ng teachers, e. Why do they give so much of their lives for people that sometimes don’t know how to appreciate it?

“Bagama’t sa mga ganitong okasyon yung mga pagkilala are important kasi nakakabawas ng pagod, nakakabawas nung sinasabing kakulangan sa kita o suweldo, I think it’s should be more of a permanent basis kung saan puwede natin silang ilagay sa more lofty status.

“You know, marami sa ating mga teachers ay napipirata to teach English pa, of all things. And that I know for a fact because ako nakapagbigay ako ng speech in California before Filipino teachers.

“You know, yung ibang course, yung ibang professions, naiintindihan ko na kailangan nating mag-export kasi there’s lack of jobs here.

“But teachers, you know, no country can lay claim to have been an economic giant unless they have a solid foundation in terms of education.

“Lahat iyan e, science, technology, engineering, mathematics, all of that have to be established.”

CONSISTENT SUPPORTER.

“Yeah, I’ve been here since… I think this is my fourth. Ms. Chaye Cabal is a good family friend. When she told me about Gabay Guro, sabi ko, ‘Invite mo naman ako diyan.’

“Here in the Philippines, and I think generally all over the world, teachers don’t get appreciated as much as they should. So, four years ago nandito na ako.

And of course, my parents every year.

“This year lang sila hindi nakapunta kasi they’re in Palawan. Kaya ako I made sure na makapunta ako kahit galing pa ako ng taping [ng For Love Or Money].

“I’ll be hosting a segment with Edu and I’ll be introducing Ms. Chaye Cabal, she’s the one that really worked hard to get this all together.

“This is the day for our teachers, so I’ll just go out there and say hi, hello and show my support.”

NO TALENT FEE.

Sabi ni Chaye, “Thank you to our artists who actually said yes. It is very humbling that they’re doing this for free and for the love of our teachers. Maraming salamat sa kanila, ang bait-bait nila.

“And for the first time… kasi we don’t really get to have artists from ABS, TV5 and GMA all together... So, for the love of the teachers nagsama-sama sila.

“Actually, it’s very overwhelming, but more than that we’re very grateful for their generosity also in terms of their time and their effort kasi alam natin busy sila, di ba?

“The mere fact that they’re joining Gabay Guro is actually their way of paying tribute to our teachers.”

Bukod sa programa at variety show, nagkaroon din ng raffle draw sa Gabay Guro event, kung saan ang grand prize ay house and lot mula sa Stateland Inc., at brand-new Foton van. Ang iba pang premyo ay livelihood program packages, cash gifts, electronic gadgets at marami pang iba.
