Shamcey Supsup clarifies statement of Ariella Arida on Latina beauties: “It’s not about how fluent you are, it’s the idea behind your answer.”

Shamcey Supsup (shown with fiancé Lloyd Lee) on Ariella Arida’s controversial statement: “You know, natatawa na nga ako, e. Kasi nga, kung papakinggan mo in context yung sinabi niya, I mean hindi naman niya mini-mean like that. Ang meaning lang niya is that when it comes to beauty pageants, even though they can speak English fluently, they choose to answer in their native language."

“The week before she left, nagkaroon kami ng...it’s not really a training, it’s more of parang discussion, open forum.

"Parang I told her ano pa yung gusto mo pang malaman about Miss Universe or ano pa yung...what do you feel right now?

"So parang it’s more of emotional support for her."

"Siyempre di ba the past beauty queens have done really well in the international pageants pero siya, parang she takes it na parang, ‘Kung kaya nila, kaya ko rin!’

“Parang ganun, so that’s what I like about her kasi hindi siya yung parang nawawalan ng loob.

"Basta sa kanya, she’ll do her best and kumbaga pinapakinggan niya yung mga advice pero hindi siya naapektuhan in a negative way.

“So iyon yung maganda kay Ara."

OFFENSIVE REMARK? Naitanong kay Shamcey ang opinyon nito tungkol sa isyung kinaharap ni Ariella dahil sa pagsasabi nito ng, "Latinas cannot even speak a sentence..." sa isang interbyu.

Matatandaang noong October 21, hiningi ni Karen Davila ang komento ni Ariella tungkol sa Twitter question na, "Is this our Miss Universe? I think she’s having a hard time speaking in English."

Umani ng batikos ang sagot ng dalaga.

Pero ayon naman kay Shamcey, “You know natatawa na nga ako, e!

"Kasi nga, kung papakinggan mo in context yung sinabi niya, I mean hindi naman niya mini-mean like that.

“Ang meaning lang niya is that when it comes to beauty pageants, even though they [Latinas] can speak English fluently, they choose to answer in their native language.

“Parang nung time ko, maraming Latinas, for example, Miss Brazil. During my time, she speaks fluently in English, ang galing niya magsalita.

"She translates for us e kasi di ba we were in Brazil?

“And I don’t how to speak Portuguese, so when we were there talagang she’s the one translating from Portuguese to English, English to Portuguese, coz she can speak talaga.

“But during the pageant, she answered in her native language, di ba, and she had an interpreter.

“So parang I think lang, what Ara meant is not about how fluent you are. Kumbaga it’s their idea, parang it’s the idea behind your answer.

“And most of the beauty queens from the Latin countries choose to speak or choose to answer in their native tongue.

“Although meron talagang mga iba, aminado naman sila na they can only speak a little bit or understand a little bit or they need others to slow down when speaking English to them para they can understand, yung ganun.

“So hindi siya generalized, there are some people who speak English, meron ding some naman na candidates na talagang no English.

"Like meron akong nakilala, hindi talaga siya marunong pero they still make it.

Yung ganun.

“Parang gusto lang siguro niyang i-emphasize that it’s not the language that you speak, it’s how you present your idea, and if they understand what you said and yung idea mo tama naman.”

ON MO TWISTER.

Sagot ni Shamcey, “Actually, hindi ko nabasa yung comment niya but they said nga that he commented on it, pero I mean everybody has an opinion."

“...kumbaga if he has this opinion and you also have your own opinion, I don’t wanna give my opinion on him.

“Parang that’s the same thing, e. If I say something bad about him, it’s the same thing na what he did din to Ara.

“So we’re all entitled to our own opinions, and I respect him whatever he thinks. It’s his Twitter account, di ba?

“And, pero siyempre sabi nga nila, whatever you do, you have a responsibility, whatever you say in public, it will come back to you, di ba?

“So ako naman, siguro iyon talaga yung feeling niya about Ara or…I didn’t really know what exactly he said pero kumbaga he’s entitled to that so bahala na siya,” ang natatawang pahayag ni Shamcey.

DECEMBER WEDDING.

“And then nung mga siguro last week lang when we started to finalize with the invitation and then yung ano...

Dugtong pa ni Lloyd, “So siyempre, iyun yung isa sa parang concern namin, at the same time, yung medyo nag-i-insert kami ng mga parang a little bit of Chinese tradition.

“So we have to parang deliver the fabrics of our principal sponsors so isa-isa namin, personally, ide-deliver namin sa either office or sa bahay ng mga ninong at ninang namin.

“So medyo mahirap, mabusisi gawin."

We’ve been waiting for it for quite sometime and iba kasi yung feeling na, we’re looking forward not just for the wedding, we’re looking forward to the Christmas and the New Year.

“Kumbaga how it feels, di ba, pag Christmas, 24, 25, ilang days na lang kasal na namin, and then the New Year after that is our first New Year as husband and wife.

“So parang this is gonna be an exciting December for us.”

NOT YET READY TO BE A MOM.

"At least if ever medyo hectic man yung schedule namin, medyo magkahiwalay kami sa umaga.

"At least pag-uwi sa bahay, magkasama na kami. Alam namin na magkasama na kami, iyon yung masarap na feeling.

“And itong Christmas na ito parang lahat ng emotions kaya sobrang saya kasi bukod sa Christmas, New Year, ano e, yung wedding parang ang laking preparation for us.

“We have two receptions, actually, Manila and Gensan [General Santos City] kasi siyempre yung mga tao sa farm, yung mga hindi makakapunta, so we have prepared something for them also.”

Ilan naman ang plano nilang maging anak?

Ayon kay Shamcey, “Basta yung anak, ano pa yun, it will come pero for now, we wanna focus muna on our marriage.

“And then sabi nga sa amin, a lot of people advised us, even our Pastor said that okay naman daw talaga yun na you build muna your relationship with your partner.

“And then if you’re already strong enough, then you add another to your family, parang ganun.

“Kasi in the end, sabi nga in the Bible, you always choose your spouse over your children kasi your spouse is your half of everything, e, di ba?

“Parang siya yung kahati mo sa lahat and, in the future, your children will also marry di ba and you will be left with the two of you again na parang kayo na lang uli.

“So parang kami, we wanna build muna the relationship to be strong.

"And once we’re strong and ready, then maybe that’s the time we’re gonna add another one in the family,” pagtatapos na pahayag ni Shamcey.
