Patuloy pa rin ang pagbuhos ng suporta mula sa international celebrities para sa mga Pilipinong nasalanta ng super typhoon Yolanda.
Ilang personalidad mula sa iba’t ibang bansa ang tumutok sa updates tungkol sa pinsalang naidulot ng itinuturing na isa sa pinakamatinding bagyo sa kasaysayan ng buong mundo.
Kabilang na rito ang A-list Hollywood actor na si George Clooney, na itinuring ang nakaraang bagyo sa Pilipinas bilang “terrible disaster.”
Sa panayam ng Associated Press kay George, sa ginanap na Britannia Awards sa Los Angeles, California, noong Sabado, November 9, sinabi ng Oscar-winning actor na maaari rin siyang makakalap ng tulong para sa Pilipinas, kasama ang ibang Hollywood stars.
“We did the Golden Globes a week before we did the Haiti telethon and we were able to sort of rally some troops around, and we'll see what goes on from here and see what we're able to do.
"It's just happened a day ago so we're figuring it out," pahayag ni George.
Matatandaang noong Enero 2013 ay isang telethon ang pinangunahan ni George para makalikom ng tulong sa mga biktima ng lindol sa Haiti.
Umabot ng mahigit $50 million ang nakalap mula sa Hope for Haiti Now telethon, kung saan nag-perform ang ilang singers tulad nina Madonna, Chris Martin ng bandang Coldplay, at Jennifer Hudson.
SPOELSTRA, NBA EXTEND HELP. Sa kabilang banda, nagpaabot naman ng simpatiya si Erik Spoelstra, head coach ng NBA team Miami Heat, sa mga biktima ng bagyong Yolanda.
Ang nanay ni Spoelstra ay isang Filipina.
Sa official Facebook Fan Page ng Miami Heat, sinabi ng kilalang NBA coach: “We value the many fans that we have over there, and we will keep them in our thoughts and prayers.”
Sa ulat ng Washington Post kanina, November 11, magdo-donate daw ang NBA at NBA Players Association ng $250,000 sa U.S. Fund ng UNICEF, para sa emergency relief operation na gagawin ng grupo dito sa bansa.
Nabanggit din dito na magiging bahagi si Spoelstra ng public service announcement ng UNICEF, para makalikom pa ng karagdagang tulong sa mga biktima ng bagyo sa Pilipinas.
