Pinay bet to Miss International pageant Bea Rose Santiago: "I’m gonna bring the storm in Japan."

Sabi niya, “I’m not going there as Bea Santiago, I’m going there as Miss Philippines. And if I win or make it, that would bring happiness this Christmas.”

Ngayong araw, December 6, ang alis ni Bb. Pilipinas-International Bea Rose Santiago papuntang Tokyo, Japan.

Pahayag ni Bea sa kanyang speech, “It’s been an overwhelming year for me, coming from a different country…

“I spent half of my life before coming here.

“I found my country, my family, my friends here.

“I will never leave the Philippines again.

“This is my new world and, again, thank you for everything.”

BOTH PROVINCIAL AND CITIFIED.

“Bea is someone who half-spent her life in the province and in Canada.

“So I spent both worlds, so I have the probinsiyana and the city girl. And it’s my first year here in Manila.

“And maybe not a lot of people know na I can speak a lot of languages—like I can speak Bisaya, Tagalog, and English.

“And also Masbateño, Ilonggo, and Bicolano. And sometimes Waray, ‘coz it’s very close to Masbate.

“So I understand a lot of dialects in the Philippines.”

"I WANT TO CLOSE THE PAGEANTS THIS YEAR WITH A SLAM."

Saad ni Bea, “I dedicate this pageant to the victims of Haiyan [international name ng Yolanda] because, like I said, I’m not going there as Bea Santiago, I’m going there as Miss Philippines.

“And if I win or make it, that would bring happiness this Christmas.”

Dagdag niya, “I want to give them a very merry Christmas—that’s one of my goals.

“And I think the least that they want right now… they need, you know… let’s make them smile.

“Yun po yung gusto ko ipakita na, Philippines, no matter what happens to us, kahit na nabagyo man tayo, I’m gonna bring the storm in Japan.

“That’s what I’m gonna do.”

Sabi rin ni Bea, “I’m very, very happy to represent our country in the Miss International pageant.

“I leave it all to God.

“Kung kaya ko, I will give my best because I’m going there not as ‘Bea Santiago, 20, Masbate.’

“I’m going there as ‘Bea Santiago, Philippines!”

Pangako pa ni Bea sa mga kababayang Pinoy: “I want to represent our country very well.

“I want to give a merry Christmas to the Philippines.

“I want to close the pageants this year with a slam.”

MORE EXCITED THAN PRESSURED.

“Well, I’m not really pressured, very excited lang—very excited right now.

“Maybe kapag paalis na ako [I will feel pressured], pero ngayon I’m excited...

“I’ve been waiting for this talaga since Mutya [Datul] left, I’ve been waiting for my competition na.

“So, I’m just very excited, and I’m very prepared na.”

Dagdag pa niya, “I guess I’m pressured to take home the crown because of the victims.

“And to make people happy… not because of my sisters [in Binibining Pilipinas] that they’ve been winning—it’s not about that.”
