Sharon Cuneta debunks speculations about daughter KC’s trip to the United States

Sharon Cuneta is reunited with ex-boyfriend Richard Gomez, who agreed to be a special guest in her TV5 primetime series, Madam Chairman.

Sharon Cuneta is back together with her ex-boyfriend Richard Gomez—on the small screen.

Richard is cast as Enzo, the ex-boyfriend of Sharon’s character in Madam Chairman, Megastar’s daily primetime tawa-serye.

Madam Chairman was supposed to run for only 13 weeks but was extended to 20 weeks.

On why Richard is allowed to do a comedy series with the Kapatid Network, he points out, "Ang contract ko with ABS-CBN is for drama."

ON REUNION WITH RICHARD. (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had the chance to visit the set of Madam Chairman, where Sharon was seen trading jokes with Richard and Jay Manalo, who plays her husband in the show.

She even compared working again with Richard to "wearing an old shoe, it’s comfortable."

When asked to recall her breakup in the past with her ex-boyfriend, Sharon and Richard looked at each other before the Megastar answered, "Hindi kami nag-away. Umiyak lang ako then break na kami.

"Hindi kami nag-away, hindi kami hostile."

ON DAUGHTER KC CONCEPCION. Last January 8, KC announced through her Twitter account that she would be leaving the Philippines to study abroad.

The TV host-actress, according to her mom, is currently in New York to take up acting classes during her stay in New York.

"She just got there a few days ago. We’ve been texting and I always remind her to pray since she’s alone although she’s used to it.

"She thrives in going around New York. She’s excited about learning from a different side of the world."

Was KC disappointed that she did not bag the lead role in Dyesebel?

"Ay, hindi namin napag-usapan yun," said Sharon.

There have been speculations linking KC’s departure to the decision of ABS-CBN to make Anne Curtis the lead star in its remake of Dyesebel.

But Sharon denied this connection.

"No! The plans for abroad were months ago pa," revealed Sharon.

"She discussed them with Boss Vic [del Rosario of Viva] months ago pa, before pa niya na-shoot ang Boy Golden [referring to KC’s Metro Manila Film Fest entry]. Wala pa yung talks ng Dyesebel."

ON BOY GOLDEN. As a mother, Sharon was taken aback to see her daughter doing kissing scenes with ER Ejercito and doing sexy dance moves for Boy Golden: Shoot-To-Kill.

Sharon narrated with a laugh: "Katabi ko siya nung premiere... nung nag-kiss sila, sabi ko, ’Naku, anak ko yun!’

"Sabi ni KC sa akin, ’Ma, are you okay?’

"Sabi ko, ’Give me ten seconds to breathe.’ Okay, I’m an actress. I can do that too. I understand."

She turned serious when she said, "Pero I’m so proud of her acting in Boy Golden.

"Bilang nanay, gusto mong sabunutan pero bilang artista, na-appreciate ko siya."

During the Gabi ng Parangal of the 39th Metro Manila Film Festival, the Best Actress award went to Maricel Soriano for the movie Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy.

What is KC’s reaction to this?

Sharon said, "I can’t speak for her pero, in a way, she felt bad ’coz she didn’t win Best Actress for Boy Golden.

"In a way, she felt happy also because a lot of people said she did a good job and they noticed."

Sharon also takes pride in the fact that her daughter was given the chance to work with the same person who trained Angelina Jolie in the Hollywood movie Salt.

"Sulit naman ang kanyang training kay Direk Chito [Roño]. I’m happy she has that feather in her cap.”

WISH FOR TV5. Meanwhile, the Megastar pointed out that she had to adjust to the working hours dedicated to making a daily TV show.

"I love it basta si Direk Joel [Lamangan] ang director or si Direk Soxie [Topacio]. We’ve all paid our dues. Hindi na kami sanay na nagsu-shoot from morning to morning.

"It’s hard to balance your life. I never had these many working days for a TV station before in a week. Dati, big deal na sa akin ang two days.

"Now, it’s really my love and devotion to the show kasi Madam Chairman is really a good show.

"Sana lang lumakas na ang signal para mas maraming makaalam na may show kami.

"Pero, in fairness, may effort. Sana lumakas ang signal kasi sayang, e."

Sharon is expected to start working on her first drama anthology, Minamahal, during the third quarter of 2014.

When asked to describe this show, Sharon explained, "There’s going to be a song of the week and I’m going to sing it with Jay Durias.

"It’s not going to be based on letter senders. They are going to make a script based on the song then ida-dramatize ng ibang artista.

"It’s not a letter, ayaw naman namin... institution siyempre ang MMK [referring to ABS-CBN’s Maalaala Mo Kaya] at ayaw rin naman namin maging gaya-gaya."

Lastly, tyhe Megastar is planning to celebrate her 35th anniversary in showbiz through a concert to be held towards the end of the year.

She is also slated to do a movie for Viva but she declined to give details about the project.
