“I knew there was gonna be some buzz but I never expected it to be like this. It’s overwhelming.
“Cristine obviously knows how to deal with this, but me, I’m still overwhelmed.”
It’s just amazing how things are turning out right now, and if I can bring more attention to local mixed martial arts, that would be perfect.
“It’s still a growing sport here in the country even though it’s been around for quite some time.
"I strongly encourage everyone out there to follow and support local MMA fighters."
ON MEETING CRISTINE.
“We were with some common friends when I met her, then she told me she has always wanted to train in jiu-jitsu, so I invited her over to our gym.
"To my surprise, she actually showed up."
“It was totally unexpected!” tawa ni Ali.
“Truth be told, she is doing very well.
"She has a high level of skill right now that I actually feel she is ready for competition.
“But obviously, for now, that has to wait.
"But after the baby comes, I know she will do well in tournaments.”
“Oh no, not MMA, Jiu-jitsu, yes, but she’ll have to leave MMA to me,” sagot ni Ali.
“I was fighting full time before, then I took a two-year hiatus.
“Then I thought I could just jump back on the horse and fight again, man, that was not the best of ideas.”
Kailan siya muling lalaban?
Sagot ni Ali, “Very, very soon.
"My only concern at the moment is ring rust, but my team should be able to address that.
“I honestly feel this is the best time to fight. I’ve regained the hunger I lost when i slacked off before.
"As a fighter, as early as training, you know if you can win a fight or not.
"When that bell rings, everything changes, instincts take over, instincts that were forged through hard training."
Sabi naman niya, “Cristine has never seen me fight live.
"And she is very supportive about my passion for MMA.
"I’m not even gonna wait till our baby is born to get back in action, I just love the fact that she is also up for it.”
