Rafael Rosell urges kids to read books and play sports: "It gives them a sense of freedom from all these gadgets."

Rafael Rosell observes that kids seem to have lost interest in reading books: “Kids nowadays, you see them hunched over their tablets and smart phones. It’s not healthy—for their eyes and their posture. Ako kasi, I grew up with books. I read a lot of books in school and at home. ’Tsaka iba yung may hawak kang libro and you turn the page.”

“I really want to encourage the kids today to discover the joy of reading a book.

Reading cultivates not only their vocabulary, but also their imagination.

“Ako kasi, I grew up with books. I read a lot of books in school and at home. 'Tsaka iba yung may hawak kang libro and you turn the page.

“Kids nowadays, you see them hunched over their tablets and smart phones. It’s not healthy—for their eyes and their posture.

“They have to play sports for recreation. They have to interact with other kids at hindi lang sa mga video games sila nakatutok.

“There’s nothing like playing outside with other kids. It’s healthy and it gives them that sense of freedom from all these gadgets.

“I do hope parents would encourage their kids to go back to reading and doing sports,” panalangin ni Rafael nang makapanayam siya ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa press launch ng Second Chances noong January 6 sa GMA Annex Building.

READING ADVOCACY.

“I believe in this advocacy. Literacy is very important.

“Reading not only provides entertainment, you can learn so much from books.

“Like what I said, iba yung feeling na may hawak kang libro at binabasa mo siya.

“There is a certain fulfillment that no high-tech gadget can ever give,” diin niya.

HAPPY KAPUSO.

“What I enjoy most is that I’m not only acting in different teleseryes, I am also performing on Sunday All Stars.

“I get to dance, do martial arts, and show off my gymnastic skills.

“I am really a performer at heart and I love to show off my moves once in a while,” ngiti pa niya.

WORKING WITH DIREK LAURICE.

“I am proud to be part of the cast of Second Chances because it’s such an honor and a great experience working with Direk Laurice.

“Direk Laurice is just like your teacher in high school na kinakatakutan mo kapag hindi ka nakagawa ng homework mo.

“When she calls you at hindi ka nakasagot sa mga tanong niya, you’ll get scolded.

“Nakakahiyang mapagalitan ka ni Direk Laurice, so as a good and obedient student, I always come prepared.

“Kaya on the set, I make sure I know all my lines, my blockings and the emotions she wants me to express in my scenes.

“She brings out the best in everybody on the set.

“She really is an actor’s director and we are so lucky to be working with her as our director in Second Chances,” pagmamalaki ni Rafael.
