Stella Marquez-Araneta on why Binibining Pilipinas bets to international pageants do not wear gowns by Pinoy designers

Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. chair Stella Marquez-Araneta explains why Colombian designer Alfredo Barraza has designed the Philippine national costume gowns in the past years: "If I didn’t do it for several years, it’s because the designs that were given to us were not good enough for our candidates. That’s the reason I went abroad.” Ms. Marquez-Araneta is reportedly open to using Filipino designs in future international pageants.

Paliwanag ni Ms. Marquez-Araneta sa pamamagitan ng panayam sa TV Patrol: “It's an inspiration that the designer gets to make it look a little bit, but not necessarily the [original] ones that we wear there [in the pageant]."

“The first time I tried to have something made abroad for the Filipina was Miriam Qiambao and it won best national dress and it was done by this fellow [Barraza]," aniya.

"If I didn't do it for several years, it's because the designs that were given to us were not good enough for our candidates. That's the reason I went abroad.”
