Fil-Brit actor Charlie Sutcliffe admits struggling with his Tagalog lines: “It’s the language that gets me.”

Fil-Brit actor Charlie Sutcliffe on his desire to improve his Tagalog: “It’s just hard when the lines are malalim. I don’t understand what it means, and I have to ask somebody so I can act accordingly.”

“The whole time we were on the set was really nice and stress-free. I am enjoying acting more now.

“Coming from modelling and doing a reality show [Juan Direction] and a sitcom [Just One Of The Boys], I enjoyed doing this Wattpad episode with the whole cast and crew.

“I do want to be good in delivering my Tagalog lines.

“It’s just hard when the lines are malalim. I don't understand what it means, and I have to ask somebody so I can act accordingly.

“Hopefully, I can get into more workshops to polish my Tagalog,” lahad niya.

“I actually try to converse in Tagalog para masanay ako.

“On the set, they talk to me in Tagalog and I try to answer back even if I sound funny,” tawa pa niya.

“When I’m together with the other Fil-Brits, sila marunong mag-Tagalog like Daniel [Marsh], Brian [Wilson] and Michael [McDonnell]. They teach me how to pronounce the words properly.

“It’s just the language that gets me. If I can’t somehow connect with the Tagalog lines I’m delivering, it makes it hard for me to act.

“So this year, I really would like to seriously learn Tagalog. Totoo na ‘yan,” diin pa niya.

PRESSURE TO KEEP FIT.

Ayon kay Charlie, “There’s pressure to get into shape because I’m still in the process of getting it all back.

“I took quite a long vacation during Christmas and then they gave us this project that requires us to take our shirts off.

“Ang dami kong kinain and it was just a month ago that I started working out.

“All the guys here are so ripped. It’s really a challenge to look good with them.

“Like with John, sabay kaming sumali sa Century Tuna Super Bod in 2012 and he won.

“Albie, Vin and Sandino are also physically fit, so it’s really all about impressing the only rose among the thorns that is Jasmine.”

COMPARING NOTES?

“We don’t really compare our muscles because that would be weird!” malakas na tawa niya.

“On the set we’re in robes, so we don’t really get to see one another’s body. It’s only during the take that we take them off.

“We don’t go beyond touching one another’s abs or muscles.

“Hindi gano'n because that would be awkward.

“We just say, 'Uy you’re in great shape!' and that’s it.”

CHARLIE THE FOODIE.

“Honestly, I’m not a fan of exotic food.

“It really makes me sick to my stomach. I really cannot handle it.

“In the show, they made us eat tamilok [ship worm] and wakwak [sand worm].

“One worm was worse than the other!” tawa niya.

“I dared the crew to eat the worms with us and they refused. Parang ang daya!

“But it’s for the show, that’s why I had to do it. Kahit hindi masarap, I have no choice.”

REALITY SHOW.

“If TV5 gives us the go-signal, Juan Direction will be on its fifth season.

“We would like to do the show again because we have so many ideas.

“Lalo na that summer is near, we would like to explore more places in the Philippines.

“I received many requests from fans on social media to bring back Juan Direction. Nami-miss na raw nila kami.

“Hopefully, TV5 will grant their wishes so they will see us all together again,” dasal niya.

SETTLING DOWN? Maria. Wala pa raw silang plano na mag-settle down.

“I don’t want to rush things with her because we’re just on our third year.

“Kaya wala pa akong plans to propose because we don’t want to put pressure on our relationship.

“But I feel that she's the one. Monika kasi is very career-driven so I know what her priorities are.

“Ako rin naman, I want to do more for myself before I settle down.

“If things are good for us and if we’re ready emotionally and financially, then we can think of getting married.

“For now, we’re enjoying one another’s company,” pagtatapos ni Charlie.
