Jinri Park has yet to tell her Korean family about boyfriend Cholo Barretto

Korean TV/radio personality Jinri Park on being a Filipino by heart: "Since I grew up in the Philippines, when I was developing who I am, my personality, and my friends, everything, they’re all in the Philippines, so it feels like more home here rather than in Korea."

Ito ay ang Jinrilationships: A Survival Guide to the Dating Life, produced by Digital5, ang digital channel ng TV5.

Sabi ni Jinri, “It’s really such a blessing because it’s my own show with my name as a title.

“At first, I felt so grateful to have my own show, and second to have a show that I can actually pitch in my own ideas and be creative and be part of the production.”

“A couple of months, but I’ve known him for like two years,” sagot niya.

“Yeah, in a gym. I work out there and I was introduced to him a couple of years back by the owner of the gym.

“And then, when I came back from Korea, I asked him, ‘Do you still go to the gym?’

“I didn’t ask him because I’m so into him, but I just wanted a gym buddy.

“I’m glad that I met him in a gym than a club or a bar.

“That I know that he’s a also a person who goes to the gym, he takes care of his body.”

Ayon kay Jinri, “It’s very laid back, ‘cause I am more uptight, I am an uptight person, and he’s the laid back.

“And, it works!

“We’re very opposites.

“I like being really active, I’m the hiking type, exercise, let’s go to this adventure.

“And he’s the beach, relaxed, and have-a-beer kind of person.

“Yeah, we’re very opposites.”

CONTROVERSIAL BARRETTO FAMILY.

“Yeah, he’s very family-oriented so I get to hang out with his cousins, his titas, his mom,” sabi ni Jinri.

“Oh, yeah, but I don’t wanna talk about it, because it’s none of my business. That’s all.”

Sabi ni Jinri, “Of course, with him, I talk about it.

“But I don’t talk about it outside because it’s really none of my business.”

JINRI’S FAMILY.

“Of course, I’m more of a Filipino already on the inside.

“But there are some issues that we had some problems with, like he tells me it’s the Filipino way, but I get it, but he insists that it is, so I’m, like, okay, I’ll just let it go.

“And sometimes, I guess with my parents, they are more close-minded, so it’s also hard to get through them compared to Cholo’s parents, to Cholo’s family, they are more open-minded about things.”

“Actually, I didn’t tell them yet.

“My sister knows though. My sister is a bit more open-minded.

“I’m just scared because my family is very traditional Korean.

“They prefer... they don’t say no [to Filipinos], but they prefer a Korean guy.

“So, I’m just kind of scared to introduce him, but I’m planning to real soon.

“I’m still looking at the situation.”

PINOY BY HEART.

Kuwento niya, “I grew up in Cebu, actually most of my life.

“I tried living in Korea for a while. I went back last year [in Korea], I went back for a year.

“And then it didn’t work out because I had a hard time adjusting to the culture which is my own culture supposedly.

“But since I grew up in the Philippines, when I was developing who I am, my personality, and my friends, everything, they’re all in the Philippines, so it feels like more home here rather than in Korea.”

Sabi ni Jinri, “Well, of course, he doesn’t like it.

“But he understands it because he’s also from the industry, so he knows how it goes, how it works.

“He’s very understanding and I talk to him about it from time to time, like, you know, when I do some sexy shoots and, of course, he’s gonna be bothered by it.

“I tell him, I explain to him that it’s my job, it’s part of who I am, it’s part of what I have to do, what I also kind of enjoy also.”
