Miss Gay Philippines 2015 Trixie Maristela gets a taste of "no crossdressing policy" of Valkyrie

Trixie Maristela on joining showbiz: “Ako, I just want to really be visible and represent the community. Kasi, like what I’ve said, marami nang LGBT representation sa showbiz. And, I think, my education would also be my weapon, my armory in whatever opportunity that showbiz would give me.”

Saad niya, “I felt that first 'cause I was actually the one who was refused entry to that club aside from Veejay.

“It happened to me two Saturdays ago.

“I was with my family and my boyfriend.

“I was frequenting that club, for five times already, and when I was about to enter, I was asked for my ID [identification card].

“And, here in the Philippines, there's no law that allows transwomen to change their gender marker in our legal documents, so I presented an ID which says my real gender marker, which is a male.

“And the security guard told me that I’m not properly dressed, and that I should be dressed as a man dahil sa dress code policy nila dun sa entrance.”

Patuloy ni Trixie, “That time, sobrang humiliating, kasi there are some paying guests as well about to get inside.

“Siyempre, may commotion, na-stuck sila, e, nakikita nila ako dun.

“Yun, I had to defend myself, diplomatic naman.

“I talked to someone higher than her [the security guard] and, yun, I got the same confirmation—that I’m not really allowed to get inside.”

THE DIALOGUE.

Pagbabalita ni Trixie, “We had a dialogue.

“We are planning to publicize an official statement between the club and me, and Veejay and all the other transleaders who attended the dialogue.

“I think, they are still planning to issue another statement of apology, co-authored by us.”

“At sobrang... yung share niya doesn't actually permit him to make administrative decisions.

“So, yung sa kanya is just to suggest or voice out as an investor, pero I think hindi siya part ng decision-making body ng Valkyrie.

“So, nag-meet kami, apologizing to us, and I think he's sincere naman when we talked to him in person.”

“And they promised to moving forward towards educating more their employees, to issue another statement.

“Hindi lang naman kasi sa akin nangyari ito, nagkataon lang na we are brave enough to stand up and speak up.

“Marami ang nangyari in the past, na they just chose to ignore it kasi, you know, they don't want to be humiliated further.”

VIVA CONTRACT ARTIST.

Ayon sa 29-year-old beauty queen, “That's the hope [gumawa ng movie].

“But I have to undergo workshops first to develop my acting or hosting and other skills, like probably singing.

“For now, wala pa talagang specifics and, I think, they want me to build my skills first.

“Hopefully, yes, sana mabigyan din ng chance sa acting or hosting, puwede rin sa modelling or singing.”

Pahayag pa ni Trixie, “Ako, I just want to really be visible and represent the community.

“Kasi, like what I've said, marami nang LGBT representation sa showbiz.

“And, I think, my education would also be my weapon, my armory in whatever opportunity that showbiz would give me.”

Pangarap ba niyang maging artista simula noong bata pa siya?

Saad ni Trixie, “Actually, hindi, kasi mahiyain ako before.

“But when I started joining beauty pageants, dun ko na-develop yung confidence.

“But now, whatever comes, go ako, and I'm really thankful to Boss Vic for considering me.

“It's really flattering and I'm honored.”
