Derek Ramsay doesn’t mind being second choice to Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista in the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry All You Need Is Pag-ibig.
“No [I don’t mind], that has been my story all the time. They always ask me, ‘O, you’re a replacement, you're a replacement.’
“I think of it as a blessing na napunta sa akin,” said Derek, who was also the second choice to play the lead role in the hit movie English Only Please last year.
CHANGES IN CASTING. It can be recalled that All You Need Is Pag-ibig was first offered to Mayor Herbert.
But there have been changes since Kris’s aborted attempt to back out of the project last October 10.
Kris admitted, via her emotional Instagram post, that her “tumultuous relations” with Herbert was getting in the way of their supposed project together.
Whatever the circumstances that made him part of the project, Derek maintained that he’s looking forward to shooting another MMFF entry.
“So, I might not be the first choice, that’s okay.
“Basta gawin ko nang tama yung trabaho ko.
“And I know that we have a good project.”
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) was able to interview Derek at the press launch of TV5’s Tough and Rough, held at NBA Café Manila this Wednesday, November 11.
JUST FRIENDS. Derek, for his part, is looking forward to working with Kris for the first time in All You Need Is Pag-ibig.
Although they were once rumored to be an item, Derek said that he’s not worried that they might be romantically linked again.
He commented, “Palagi naman, e. Maybe this would clarify things na we can actually work together.”
Derek, who has a non-showbiz girlfriend, further explained that he and Kris both know their limitations on and off cam.
“In the movie, we have to portray chemistry, we have to portray we’re in love because the title is All You Need is Pag-ibig.
“Our responsibility as actors, we have to show that on the screen.
“But again, the way we handle things off cam, with this movie, people will see that magkaibigan lang talaga kami.”
