Beauty queen Christi McGarry hopes to bring first Miss Intercontinental crown to the Philippines

Binibing Pilipinas-Intercontinental 2015 Christi McGarry on what sets her apart from other candidates: "Yung edge ko is matangkad ako, alam mo 'yan. 5'11 ako, so yun ang first advantage ko. 'Tapos morena ako, I really want to be able to represent a Filipino beauty."

Pahayag ni Christi, "I feel a lot of pressure, actually. But I think the biggest tip or advice I can give myself is to relax during this time because we made it this far.

"Yung first is yung Binibining Pilipinas. Now, the next goal is to own the international title to the Philippines.

"So despite the pressure, I just know I'll do my best and I'm confident enough this time.

"Pressure is okay, but my confidence overpowers that."

Aniya, "Of course, we all know we're rooting for Pia so much.

"I'm not trying to take away from her light but instead, I just hope I can be one of her biggest support systems.

"Me and Pia are very close and we both feel a lot of pressure.

"I know she feels 10 times more than I do, so all I can do is be her biggest support system.

"We text each other and we told each other our journeys during the competitions.

"Magka-text kami, we're going to be in touch the whole time to support each other if we feel stress or pressure.

"I'm just happy I can share not only with my batch sister but she's also my camp sister and my real sister now."

Ani Christi, "This year, Filipino designers are making our national costumes. So who the designers are, are our secret. But you will find out very soon.

"But we've already have a really good streak going along.

"Parul [Shah, Miss Grand International 2015 3rd runnerup] won best in national costume wearing a Filipino designer's design.

"I hope one of us [Pia] would do the same."

THE SECOND TIME.

"This is my second time to compete for Miss Intercontinental. So yung feeling ko, I just need to really be confident this time around.

"Do my best and I do feel confident so my goal is to bring the crown, the first Miss Intercontinental crown to the Philippines."

Kuwento pa niya, "As many of you know, when I was first appointed as Miss Intercontinental this time around, there was a lot of confusion, quite a bit of shock, and I wasn't exactly so sure how to handle the situation.

"But at the same time, I've learned to realize that it was more like a blessing in disguise.

"If anyone wants to know about the technicalities, the first time I was sent to Miss Intercontinental, I won Mutya ng Pilipinas as Miss Asia-Pacific but I was appointed to go to Miss Intercontinental because Miss Carla Lizardo could not attend.

"This time around, I'm sent by a different organization, the most-prestigous pageant organization in the Philippines.

"So I will do my best to represent the Philippines through Binibini.

"And this time around, it's 100 times more different then: One, I have five-year knowledge under my belt since I first joined.

"Secondly, before Binibini, I had the best training my mentors from Aces and Queens and more and more support from my family and friends from the previous times I've joined."

Sagot ni Christi, "The first time around, I was a girl. I didn't have any proper training.

"Hindi ko alam talaga yung makeup, yung buhok ko, ang gulu-gulo ng buhok ko when I walked out on stage. 'Tapos my walk, I didn't know how to walk properly.

"This time, I have a lot of preparations and training. So I will be polished everytime I step out of my room as if it were a competition there.

"And my walk has improved 150 percent so I think it'll be one of my strongest points.

Aside from that, I think eternally I exude more confidence this time around that I did the first."

PINAY ADVANTAGE.

5'11 ako, so yun ang first advantage ko. 'Tapos morena ako, I really want to be able to represent a Filipino beauty.

"But above that, I'm very well-traveled and this is my second time around, so I have a lot more experience among the other girls. So hopefully, that works to my advantage."

We have pearl farms all over the Philippines.

"And I think they represent purity, something beautiful, and pure, and feminine. Hopefully the girls would appreciate my regalo for them."
