Director Jay Altarejos finally speaks up after being accused of committing workplace violence.
In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Direk Jay revealed that he tried to contact Dalin Sarmiento.
The indie actress was supposed to star in Direk Jay's entry to the second Sinag Maynila Film Festival that will take place from April 21-26, 2016.
However, it was reported in October 2015 that Dalin complained regarding the director's supposed actions on their movie set.

In her Facebook account, Dalin posted: “I never told you na ‘dayain’ mo ang eksena, I just wanted to ‘meet halfway,’ because I was fearing for my well-being because you have hit me in the arm a couple of times (and I have pictures of my bruises), pulled my hair, and punched me in the stomach. My co-actors and your staff all saw what you did to me and they told me that they really felt sorry for me, but they could not do anything."
As a result, Mara Lopez was tapped to star in Direk Jay's movie revolving around a battered mother.
The movie, which was originally reported to be In Saecula Saeculorum, is actually titled T.P.O. (Temporary Protection Order).
Jay Altarejos told PEP during the Sinag Maynila launch held on January 21 that he actually sent a message to Dalin at the start of this year.
"I messaged her nung New Year. I wanted to reach out to her and I told her through Facebook that both of us were hurt by the situation.
"I still believe that she has potential and I hope she will pursue her dream, whatever it is."
The director said about Dalin, "I won't say anything bad against her because for such a short period of time, we've been like friends.
"She ate in my house, we ate together, we shared personal stories.
"Hindi ko siya ikukuwento kahit kanino kung ano man ang pinagkuwentuhan namin."
Did she respond to his message?
"No, I don't think so.
"Hindi ko na chineck kasi hindi ako pala-Facebook na tao."
PRECONCEIVED NOTION. In response to this issue, some directors and artists spoke up against Direk Jay.
What is his reaction to this?
"Everyone in a free country is entitled to their opinion, but I think the basic thing and the responsible thing for us to do before we speak up is to know the different sides of the story.
"Sa akin, kapag hindi nila alam ang [nangyari], that's a biased opinion."
When asked about his version of what happened, Direk Jay said, "Ako kasi, hindi na ko magsasalita tungkol sa mga ganyan."
He lamented the fact that certain people already have preconceived notions about what happened.
"Ito ang paniniwala ko. I'll be very honest with you.
"I don't think people are really interested in finding out the truth.
"Before we read it, we already have something in our minds. Sa akin, why bother?"
He then recalled that he kept quiet even though he was involved in controversies in the past.
"I've always believed in that. Dati pa, I never spoke about things like that.
"I only speak about my work.
"Mahirap na ang sabi ni ganyan, sabi ni ganyan."
