Saad ng 45-year-old singer-actress, “I feel very blessed that I’m still able to do what I love to do, which are doing concerts and singing and recording.
“Kasi medyo as you get older, it gets harder and harder to perform, you know.
“Physically, emotionally, it gets harder, so I’m happy that I’m still able to do it.
“And, of course, meron pang producers na nagtitiwala sa amin.”
ROYALTY. Isa nga si Regine na maitatanghal na royalty sa Philippine showbiz, pero sabi niya, “I don’t know how to define that, I'm just really happy that I’m still here.”
“It’s really not as important, what’s important for me is I’m still able to work.
“I am still given the chance to work with, you know, the young generation.
“I’m still able to sing with Martin and other artists.
Tugon ni Regine, “I guess ang advantage... when you win a contest, the network, they really give you… the push.
“You’re given a contract, you’re given this and that, kumbaga they’re behind you talaga.
“During my time, when I won Bagong Kampeon , I didn’t have that.
“So I won in Bagong Kampeon, after that, I had to work doubly hard pa.
“Hindi na ako nagko-contest, e, I wanted to be a recording artist na during that time so I had to work really, really hard.
“Although, nowadays, even if you have the backing of the network, you still have to work hard.
“I’ve noticed also na hindi naman porke’t you have the backing of the network, sisikat ka na agad.
“Parang you have to also prove yourself pa din to the people, to your audience, ganun.”
“But,” diin niya, “it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll stay there, di ba?
“You’re sikat na but next month somebody else make ubo naman on YouTube, and that person will be sikat also.”
PASSION RULES. Ayon pa kay Regine, “I think, ang ano pa rin is the talent.
“If you’re talented, if you’re hardworking, and you have passion for what you do, I think iyon yung umaangat.
“Iyon yung nagtatagal sa industry kasi you have to be really passionate with what you do.
“I guess kasama din yun sa ibang work, yung kung saan ka passionate, dun ka mas nagiging successful.
“I read something somewhere or I heard, I think, I can’t remember who said it.
“But God gave us special talents, all of us were given special talents.
“Di ba, you go to school, you take up like whatever… maging doktor ka and then suddenly you’re doing something else.
“Parang you find yourself doing something else kasi yung passion mo, nandun.
“And then you realize that that passion is actually pala your gift.
“So it’s really up to us to find out what that gift is.
“Be passionate and you’ll be happy with whatever it is that you do.
“Especially sa trabaho namin, you have to have that passion.
“Otherwise, you’re just gonna be one of those… overnight success lang kasi wala kang passion doon.”
