Kris Aquino speaks up about Martial Law

In her Instagram posts, Kris Aquino recalls the sacrifices that her family endured and the freedom that the Philippines had been stripped off during Martial Law.

Sabi ni Kris: “Madonna's shout-out to us celebrating People Power awakened me.

“I've been quiet about politics because I didn't want to appear that as an Aquino we were making it about us...

“But by keeping quiet, parang what happened was okay & move on na lang...

“I was 1 year old when my dad was imprisoned, I was 12 when he was assassinated...”

Patuloy ng Kris TV host, “I researched Martial Law kasi nakakahiya na ang hugot ko based on emotions, so I read up.

“NINAKAW sa 'tin ang Freedom of Assembly, Freedom from unreasonable searches & seizures, Freedom from unlawful imprisonment, Freedom to have court proceedings, and FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

“Seriously, papayag ba kayong kunin itong muli sa 'tin?

“Madaling magsalita at maging matapang ngayon—because we live in a democracy.

“But my dad & mom, Ninoy & Cory Aquino, were brave even when they were stripped of basic human rights.

“And I choose to honor their courage & all the others who gave their lives for us to have the 30 Years of Freedom we now take for granted.”

Parehong nakulong noong martial law sina Ninoy at Lopez.

Sabi ni Kris, “Namili ako ng isang bagay we've taken for granted & some politicians have conveniently forgotten- PINASARA AT INAGAW ang ABS-CBN dahil nung Martial Law NINAKAW sa 'tin ang FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION.

“Mababaw pero minsan kailangan mag back to basics para magising tayo.

“Can you imagine life w/ no Tv Patrol, Showtime, teleseryes, Star Cinema movies, ASAP, and no TFC?

“NINAKAW ang ABS-CBN sa mga Lopez. #LetsNotChangeHistory”
