Jaclyn Jose wants daughter Andi Eigenmann to quit showbiz

Jaclyn Jose on recent deaths of TV and film directors Wenn Deramas and Francis Pasion: "Natatakot ako, siyempre. Nakakaalarma. Nakakatakot. Considering na mula nang nag-artista ako, hindi ako tumitigil up to now... I also have to think it over. Akala kasi natin imortal tayo, nasa showbiz tayo, hindi natin iniisip na mortal tayo."

Veteran actress Jaclyn Jose has become more concerned about her own health and of her children, particularly actress Andi Eigenmann, after the recent incidents involving people from the showbiz industry.

Last February 29, box-office director Wenn V. Deramas died of cardiac arrest; TV and film director Francis Pasion was found dead in his flat, on March 6, allegedly due to heart attack; and talent manager/talent coordinator Cornelia Lee, a.k.a. Tita Angge, is now in coma after a massive heart attack last Saturday, March 5.

These string of incidents raised alarm and concern among the people in the industry, like Jaclyn, and are now calling for better working hours and conditions.

“Natatakot ako, siyempre. Nakakaalarma. Nakakatakot.

“Considering na mula nang nag-artista ako, hindi ako tumitigil up to now.

“Hindi ako tumitigil simula nang mag-start ako mag-artista.

“I also have to think it over.

“Akala kasi natin imortal tayo, nasa showbiz tayo, hindi natin iniisip na mortal tayo,” said Jaclyn at the press conference of her latest TV series on GMA Network, The Millionaire’s Wife, which will premiere on March 14.

Jaclyn started working at the age 23 and is now turning 53.

The veteran actress indistinctly discussed that her “group” is doing something to improve the working environment in TV-film productions.

“We’re working on it. Aware na rin naman ang taga-production at taga-networks, e.

“We’re working on it… me and my group are working on it to do something about it.

“Thirty years na rin akong umaarte, thirty years na rin akong puyat.”

Asked who are the rest of the “we” she is talking about, the actress elusively replied, “Lalabas din ‘yan after awhile.”

But the actress assured, “Sa ikabubuti ng lahat.

“Hindi naman sa ilalaban [sa TV networks and producers]. Mararamdaman. Sabihin natin nang ganun.

“Hindi na naman natin kailangang magsalita, in fairness din naman sa networks at producers, because I am sure they are very much aware of what’s going on.”

CONCERN FOR ANDI. Because of these incidents, Jaclyn said that she recently talked to daughter Andi Eigenmann.

“I already spoke to my daughter not to let Ellie enter show business.

“I want my children to live a long life and be happy because, the next day, hindi mo na nae-enjoy ang life mo because puyat ka nga, di ba?

“So, sinasabihan ko si Andi na, ‘Anak, mag-ipon ka nang mag-ipon hangga’t mas maaga. At kung maaari na makalabas ka dito sa mundong ito, gawin mo, kasi alam ko kung paano ma-trap dito dahil nangyari sa akin.’

“I told them, 'Ang dream ko sa inyo, to have a family, a regular life, a normal life 'coz our life, hindi normal.'

“Ang dream ko sa kanila, magtapos sa kolehiyo, magkaroon ng pamilya, huwag mag-cheat sa asawa, manatili sa bahay, maghapunan nang sabay-sabay, manalangin, manood ng palabas na gusto nila, matulog nang masarap, gumising kinabukasan nang masaya.”

What was Andi’s reaction?

“Nag-a-agree siya,” said Jaclyn.

ANOTHER ROLE TO WATCH OUT FOR. On the other hand, Jaclyn is grateful to GMA Network for continuously giving her substantial projects, like The Millionaire’s Wife, where she hopes to deliver another notable portrayal.

“Salamat sa GMA for giving me sunud-sunod na projects.

“Hindi ako napapagod. Andar nang andar ang utak ko on what to do.”

Known for effectively portraying antagonist roles, Jaclyn hopes to make her role in The Millionaire’s Wife as memorable as her previous ones.

“Nasa plano ko yun na hindi lang to be recognized but to excel.

“I wanna give every role na talagang may impact.

“Ayokong magpabaya ng character. Kahit ano ‘yan, sisigarudahin kong malakas.”
