“My 2016 is full,” said Lea Salonga who will be flying in and out of the country to hold shows in U.S. and fulfill television commitments here.
She was in high spirits at her launch as the brand ambassador of Uniqlo's summer collection yesterday, March 17, in SM Megamall store.
She remarked, “Grabe, ginagawa kong Quiapo yung New York and L.A.
“Buti na lang ako, I'm endorsing PAL [Philippine Airlines] so it's okay...”
Twice she was asked about updates on The Voice, and twice, she hinted at the change in line-up.
In the first interview, she told TV Patrol's Mario Dumaual and PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), “I can neither confirm nor deny any thing that's happening.
“I'm not sure, an announcement is forthcoming, whatever, but it's not gonna come from me.”
For the first two seasons, she, Bamboo, and Sarah Geronimo became the coaches.
This time, “For sure me and Bamboo will still be there kasi parang we're like, 'Pare kung wala ka ayoko nang gawin 'to.'
“Because he's somebody that I know I can banter with and debate with.”
Lea’s answer was almost similar when it was ABS-CBN reporters Mylene de Leon and Jeff Fernando’s turn to interview her.
“I can't comment on that right now kasi baka mag-iiba ng line-up.
“Baka may mag-iiba ng line-up so I'll let ABS handle all of that.”
But yes, the third season will be back this coming May.
Lea revealed, “We're shooting I think in May.
“I think we had to push back kasi our schedule, which was fine coz I got sick and I would not have been able to make it yung initial schedule namin.
“So okay lang ako that we're doing it a little later.
“So for those na alam nila kung natanggap kayo para sa blind auditions, prepare and practice before you get to us.”
SHOWS ABROAD. Lea will have one more shoot for an endorsement before she flies back to the U.S., where she will be spending Holy Week with her husband's family.
Then, on April 1, she will be performing at the Valley Performing Arts Center in Northridge, California; on April 2, at the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall for The Arts in Costa Mesa, California.
From April 12 to 17, she will performing at the 54 Below in New York.
From April 22 to 24, she will be part of the Pops' 2015-2016 season at Cincinnati Music Hall via the show Magical Music of Broadway with Lea Salonga.
Then, on May 2, she will perform at the Carnegie Hall in New York for Do You Hear The People Sing?
With all those shows, the 45-year-old performer is “grateful” because she's been living her life with a “specific purpose”: "open my mouth and sing."
And each morning, she "wakes up knowing this is what I want to do."
