Elmo Magalona challenged to prove his acting mettle amidst ABS-CBN's pool of talents

Lucky Elmo Magalona is between two women now, his onscreen partner Janelle Salvador and his real-life sweetheart Janine Gutierrez. "I'm just happy," he says.

If someone tells Elmo Magalona he can’t cut it, the more Elmo Magalona is determined to prove his detractor wrong.

Elmo has been in the industry for many years, mainly with GMA Network, but since his transfer to the Kapamilya network last November 25, it’s been like starting with a clean slate for the actor-rapper.

There may be speculation that his star may not shine amidst ABS-CBN’s large pool of talents. What is his reaction to this?

He replied, “I like challenges. I’m very competitive as a person.

“When someone tells me, ‘You can’t do this,’ mas naeengganyo akong gawin.

“I think it’s a very good spot that I have and I want to keep it.”

Does he feel the pressure?

“Of course, of course, meron din po ‘yon. Di ko na lang po inaano yung bad stuff.”

Elmo was interviewed by PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the press during the launch of Jollibee’s first national delivery hotline #8700, held at the Music Hall of SM Mall of Asia, this Tuesday, April 19.

JANELLA AND JANINE. Elmo and Janella Salvador headline the upcoming Kapamilya teleserye Born for You.

Recently, they both flew to Japan for the shooting of some of their scenes.

Elmo has nothing but good words for his leading lady.

“Okay naman. I find her really energetic, funny, and she’s a breeze to work with.

“Especially pag meron kaming scene together, kilala niya ang character niya talaga,” praised Elmo.

He said that his onscreen partnership with another actress does not affect his personal relationship.

Elmo is in a relationship with Kapuso star Janine Gutierrez.

“Actually, she [Janine] has a show now and I’m supporting her show.

“She’s also very vocal of her support for my show and I like it and I’m happy she supports my show.

“I’m just happy, we’re just both super blessed to be busy right now.”

The son of the late Francis Magalona said he feels blessed to be chosen as the latest addition to the fast-food chain’s brand ambassadors for it’s new campaign for a nationwide delivery hotline service.

Jollibee’s ambassadors also include Sarah Geronimo, James Reid, Nadine Lustre, Carmina Villarroel, and Darren Espanto.

“Kumbaga, if Jollibee is going nationwide, we’re representing Jollibee nationwide.

“So it’s such a big thing, an honor to be part of this campaign.”
