Leyte Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez joins her husband, newly-elected Ormoc City mayor Richard Gomez, in PDP-Laban.

Lucy Torres-Gomez has abandoned the Liberal Party and joined many others in moving to Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), the political party of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte.

The Leyte representative and 12 other congressmen, mostly from the Liberal Party, took their oath before prospective Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez yesterday, June 2, in Makati City.

Lucy is now in the same political party with her husband, the newly-elected Ormoc City mayor Richard Gomez who ran under the banner of Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC).

Other representatives who have jumped ship from the Liberal Party are Sorsogon Rep. Deogracias Ramos Jr., Guimaras Rep. Ma Lucille Nava, Zamboanga del Norte Rep. Glona Labadlabad, North Cotabato Rep. Jesus Sacdalan, and Maguindanao Rep. Zajid Mangudadatu.

Likewise, Laguna Rep. Sandra Eriguel of Laguna, Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr., and National Unity Party member Vicente Sofronio Veloso from NPC have transferred to PDP-Laban.

In a report from GMA News, Alvares said PDP-Laban's membership in the House of Representative have grown to 60 lawmakers from original three after the May 9 election.
