Former Star Magic artist Michelle Ayalde has lots of fond memories of her showbiz beginnings.
A member of Star Magic Batch 10, the 30-year-old singer was launched together with Bea Alonzo, Dennis Trillo, Alfred Vargas, and Nadine Samonte in 2001.
Back then, Michelle had guest appearances in Maalaala Mo Kaya, Calvento Files, Star Studio Presents, and even G-mik.
But she is best known as the voice behind the original theme song of Wansapanataym and Meteor Garden's "The Love You Want" (adaptation of Ni Yao De Ai).
BEA ALONZO. “Si Bea Alonzo ka-batch ko yun e. Star Circle kami,” said Michelle, who's currently based in Malaysia as an exclusive record artist of Worldwide Platinum Records.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) actually flew to Malaysia to attend the official launch of her record album, Hipnotic, held at the Warner Music headquarters in Sunway, Friday, July 16.
Prior to the presscon proper, Michelle related how she bumped into Bea during the former's gig at EDSA Shangri-La, back in 2012.
“When I was having a vacation in Manila, nakita ko siya, aksidente lang. Kasama niya si Direk Bobot [Mortiz].
“Kilala pa rin niya ako kahit superstar na siya. Nakakatuwa naman.
“Tapos ini-encourage niya ako mag-The Voice of The Philippines.
“E, hindi puwede kasi aalis na ako papuntang ibang bansa.”
At the time, Michelle said she was surprised that Bea instantly warmed up to her even though they have had no communication for a long time.
“Kasi siyempre sikat na siya. So, nahihiya ako. Pero naka-smile naman ako.
“Oo, [si Bea ang nag-initiate ng conversation] pagkatapos ko mag-perform.
“Kasi nag-hi naman ako sa kanila. Sabi niya, 'Uy, kumusta ka na?'
“Kilala niya ako. So, natutuwa ako.”
SARAH GERONIMO. Michelle further said that she also had the chance to catch up with former Ang TV batchmate Sarah Geronimo in Greenbelt, Makati City two years ago.
“Nakita ko siya sa Greenbelt. Nag-coffee kami...
“May hinihintay siya nun, e. Manonood ako ng movie nung time na yun.
“Sabi niya, 'Kumusta ka na? Kumusta na yung career mo?'
“Sabi ko, 'Ok naman, nasa Malaysia na ako ngayon.'”
Now that she is slated to launch her Hipnotic album in Manila on August 12, is she open to going back to showbiz?
“Why not, di ba?”
But Michelle said that her priority would still be singing rather than acting career.
“Love ko talaga ang singing and performing. Yun talaga yung forte ko, e,” she beamed.
