“I am proud to be a Kapuso,” said Christian Bautista who signed a two-year contract with GMA Network yesterday, July 21.
The 34-year-old singer-actor was congratulated by no less than GMA President and Chief Executive Officer Felipe L. Gozon and Senior Vice President for Entertainment Lilybeth Rasonable at the network's headquarters located at the 16th floor of GMA Network Center.
During the contract signing, Gozon seemed to be in high spirits as he exchanged light banter with Christian and the selected reporters who were invited in the event.
Speaking of GMA's big boss, Christian said, “It's funny because there were different events outside GMA where we met—reception of Heart Evangelista and Senator Chiz Escudero's wedding, a church concert where he was there. So, merong kaunting events na nagkausap kami.”
HAPPY WITH GMA. In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other reporters, Christian said that he didn't think twice about renewing his contract after three years of being an exclusive artist of GMA-7.
“I am very happy to be with great people, great family, great support group.
“The last three years have been amazing—expanding and building my talent in acting and hosting.”
Christian further said that landing the role of Apitong in Encantadia 2016 was the “deciding factor” for him to be a Kapuso again.
“It's amazing. I really had to do my best sa audition. To fit the role, to want it.
“I think the whole GMA wanted to be part of the show.
“And there are more guests coming, more storylines...
“The fact that the star of the Game of Thrones is in Encantadia—it's a big thing.
“He even said na he really likes the program and working on the set.”
Aside from Encantadia, Christian revealed that he's also slated to be part of an upcoming talent show in Kapuso network.
“I am so happy to be part of Encantadia and a talent show in the works.
“We can't say what it is yet. But things are rolling the engines are heating up and we're ready to go.”
