Edu Manzano on his late mother, Rosario Manzano: "It did not take long para lamunin talaga siya [their mother] ng kanyang Alzheimer's.

Ayon sa alz.org, ang Alzheimer's ay “type of dementia that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. Symptoms usually develop slowly and get worse over time, becoming severe enough to interfere with daily tasks.”

“So, nakikita ko rin yung nagiging degenerative effect dun sa tao, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

“Importante sa aking pagbabasa, kailangan talaga na manatiling active ang iyong isipan regardless of how old you are, kung chess man o nagbabasa ka man.

“Kaming magkakapatid, napag-usapan namin ‘yan.

“It did not take long para lamunin talaga siya [their mother] ng kanyang Alzheimer’s.

“I saw how difficult it is to have a parent or a loved one who has Alzheimer’s.

“So, lahat kami, halos maiyak-iyak because this was someone who played a very, very big role in her life, hindi na niya nakilala.”

Saad pa niya, “Ang atin kasi, a simplistic thinking is it’s just forgetfulness, be it dementia, be it Alzheimer’s.

“Hindi, it’s a more complex ailment.

“Kaya, I think, this show [Someone To Watch Over Me], nakikita ko talaga na nagre-research si Direk Maryo [delos Reyes] and also si Tom [Rodriguez].

“I think, it’s very good time for us to learn something more about a disease that’s really affecting much of our civilization.”
