If there's one thing she has learned from surviving Typhoon Yolanda, Sofia Gonzalez has one practical thing to say, "Bring life jackets wherever you are… that was what saved us."

“So, we were there and we were inside the room and, like, they were really strong winds.

“The roof flew, we ran outside… so we were gonna drive downtown.

“When we went to the car… the water was up to here na.

“We were, like, swimming already ‘cause the water was going up really, really fast.

“It was up to the roof, our house kasi it’s not like a building, it’s like one floor, like a guest house.

“So, my mom brought us salbabida na, life jackets na ‘cause she knew something’s gonna happen.

“Can you last up to two hours? But it felt like five minutes, and all of sudden the water started going down.

“We were just inside the house, the walls were still there but the roof was gone na.

“Like, we were just holding on to that and it was like protecting us.”

Patuloy ni Sofia, “It wasn’t that traumatizing to me, the most traumatizing was after, really, like, after.

“We were walking… and saw all the dead people.

“There was this girl, conscious, and she was asking for help.

“We didn’t really know what to do, we were all traumatized.

“Seeing all the dead people… there were babies, it really traumatized me.”

Tugon niya, “Siguro bring life jackets wherever you are? I don’t know, that was what saved us.

“Don’t take life for granted, you can just die any minute.

“Nobody expected that to happen, I really thought I was gonna die.”

Tugon ni Sofia, “I’ve been through a lot, if you’ve been through a lot you’ll learn a lot of stuff.”

Paliwanag ng newbie singer, “l like talking to my fans also, I like noticing them.

“I don’t like ignoring them, I have to reply to them.”

Aniya, “When you’re in a bad state, when your mad or whatever, don’t ‘like’ or tweet anything. because you know there’s bad gonna happen.”
