Kris Aquino: "Naiinis ako dito [sa issue] because it was putting into question my mom's memory. Because obviously, di ba, saan ko makukuha? Nanggaling sa nanay ko. Gagawin ba yun ng mommy ko?"

On her first major public appearance since the May 2016 elections, the first thing that Kris Aquino did was disprove that the diamond necklace she was seen wearing was ill-gotten from the sequestered cache of former first lady Imelda Marcos.

Much to everyone’s surprise at the event, Kris spent the first few minutes showing jewelry pieces that she owns to over 100 guests.

“Naiinis ako dito [sa issue] because it was putting into question my mom’s memory," the Queen of all Media lashed out.

“Because obviously, di ba, saan ko makukuha? Nanggaling sa nanay ko. Gagawin ba yun ng mommy ko?”

Kris further related that she was only 14 years old when her mom, President Corazon Aquino, took office in 1986.

“I was reviewing it, buti na lang medyo may photographic memory ako.

“We were not allowed to enter Malacanang for at least ten days, because it might have been booby-trapped.

“There were a lot of things there.

“The last thing my family would do would be to steal someone else’s jewelry.”

Held at Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati yesterday, October 11, the event was an ad campaign launch of a detergent that the TV host-actress is endorsing.

Kris said, “I had mentioned na isusuot ko, but my stylist said, ‘Please don’t, hindi bagay sa damit.’

“I wanted everyone to just see it and to put the issue to rest.”

Kris reiterated that she bought the two diamond necklaces from Bottega Venneta for $4,400 (roughly P213,840 in dollar to peso conversion).

“Because I don’t know why, I cannot understand, November pa yung APEC [Asia Pasific Economic Cooperation].

“The other day inuungkat nanaman yung issue.

“So, sabi ko, ‘Ilalabas ko na.’”

While she is known as one of the richest celebrities in the country, Kris maintained that the diamond studs on her necklaces were fake.

“Hindi ako bayad ng Bottega Veneta. This necklace number one, and this is necklace number two.

“They are cubic zirconia—fake diamonds.

“Sabi ng sister ko na si Viel [Aquino-Dee], 'Hindi mo kinorek na fake dahil ayaw mo umamin na fake diamonds yung suot mo.'”

At any rate, Kris said that she was just fed up by the lies being hurled against her.

“Natakot lang ako... if you continue ignoring something because you thought it was senseless and baseless.

“For some people it could be acknowledged as, ‘Baka totoo.’”

“Ay, naku, tigilan na ako!”
