Cesar Montano to head DOT branch, says report

Cesar Montano, here seen clenching his fist in the Duterte election sign, will soon become the chief operating officer of the Tourism Promotions Board of the Department of Tourism, according to a report.


Magiging bahagi na ng Department of Tourism (DOT) ang aktor na si Cesar Montano.

Ayon sa isang source ng Business Mirror noong December 4, itatalaga na si Cesar bilang chief operating officer ng Tourism Promotions Board ng DOT.

Dagdag pa ng source, nalaman ng DOT ang pagkakatalaga kay Cesar sa pamamagitan ng “actual appointment papers” ng aktor.

Hindi pa ito kinumpirma ni DOT Secretary Wanda Corazon T. Teo.

Pero ayon kay Assistant Secretary Frederick Alegre, maglalabas sila ng official statement kapag nakapanumpa na si Cesar.

Sinubukan ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) na kumpirmahin ito mismo kay Cesar at sa talent manager niyang si Shirley Pizzaro, sa pamamagitan ng magkahiwalay na text messages ngayong araw, December 6.

Let's wait for the oathtaking na lang po,” sagot ng talent manager ni Cesar sa PEP.

Bukod sa pagiging award-winning actor and director, sinubukan din ni Cesar pasukin ang mundo ng pulitika.

Taong 2007 nang kumandidato siya sa pagka-senador sa ilalim ng Team Unity coalition, ngunit nabigo siyang maipanalo ito.

Nabigo rin siya nang kumandidato bilang governor ng home province niya sa Bohol noong 2010, at bilang representative ng Aangat Tayo party-list noong 2016 elections.

Si Cesar ay estranged husband ni Sunshine Cruz. Sila ay may tatlong anak na babae.

TOURISM PROMOTIONS BOARD. Ayon sa Republic Act 9593 o Tourism Act of 2009, ito ang tungkulin ng Tourism Promotions Board: “The TPB shall formulate and implement an integrated domestic and international promotions and marketing program for the Department.”

Ang Chief Operating Officer o COO ng TBP ay magsisilbing vice chairperson ng tourism board, na pangungunahan naman ng DOT secretary.

Narito ang proseso kung paano pinipili ang magiging chief operating officer ng Tourism Promotions Board:

“The TPB shall have a Chief Operating Officer who must be a Filipino, with a bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: business, law, tourism, public administration or other relevant fields and [has] demonstrated expertise therein.

He or she must have been engaged in a managerial capacity for at least five (5) years prior to his [or her] appointment.

He or she shall be elected by the Board from a list of qualified applicants and appointed by the Secretary, and shall have a term of office of six (6) years, unless removed for cause in accordance with law.”
