Sinagot ni Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere ang komentong hindi raw wastong naisalin sa English ng kanyang translator ang sagot niya sa final question-and-answer portion ng Miss Universe 2016.
Ang tanong sa Final 3: "Name something over the course of your life that you've failed at. And, what have you learned from that experience?"
Narito ang buong sagot ng bagong Miss Universe, ayon sa kanyang interpreter:
"I think that when you fail, you have to be elevated, and you have to try again and keep going.
"If tonight I am not the winner, I will still have the great honor of being one of the finalists.
"So I think I may have failed before, but for me this is a great first opportunity."
Ngunit ayon sa ilang French netizens, hindi raw naisalin nang tama sa wikang Ingles ng interpreter ang sagot ni Iris.
Sa katunayan, nag-tweet pa ang Filipino-French chef na si Erwan Heussaff ng aniya'y "close translation" ng sagot ni Iris.
Si Erwan ang fiance ni Anne Curtis at kapatid ni Solenn Heussaff.
Ayon kay Erwan, ito ang translation ng sagot ni Iris:

IRIS AND HER INTERPRETER. Sa pagharap ni Iris sa media ilang sandali pagkatapos siyang itanghal bilang bagong Miss Universe, ipinagtanggol niya ang kanyang interpreter.
Ayon sa French beauty queen, "I think my translator is very good. I don't want to say that."
Inulit naman niya ang kanyang naging sagot, sa wikang Ingles, at nagkuwento tungkol sa kanyang karanasan bago pumasok sa Medicine school.
Aniya, "You know, when I was in my first year of Medicine, the first time, I didn't have my first year.
"I cried a lot, and I say, 'Oh My God, I have to do it again.'
"After that, I go and bought another book for Medicine. And immediately, it was only days and I studied.
"They called me, like, one week after this, and they say that there's a mistake."
Sinabi raw sa kanya: "Actually, you have your first year of Medicine. This is not a joke and you succeed."
Pahayag pa ni Iris, "This is the thing that I am most proud in my life.
"I really want to have a first year, and the first time I didn't have it."
Humingi rin siya ng paumanhin sapagkat hindi niya ito maayos na maipaliwanag sa press.
