Miss Thailand Chalita Suansane became emotional when she saw her mother after the 65th Miss Universe grand coronation, held at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, today, January 30.
According to YES Magazine’s Instagram post, the 21-year-old Microbiology student took comfort from her family, friends, and fans from Thailand who flew here in Manila to watch her perform live at MOA Arena.
Snippets of her life in a video shown during the pageant revealed that Miss Thailand had a very hard life. She would go with her mother to the latter's menial jobs and help out. And throughout her growing-up years, it was plain hard work for her.
Deemed as one of the crowd favorites in the pageant, Suansane made it as far as the Top 6.
But she failed to make it to Top 3 following the gruelling Q&A portion among the six finalists; including the Philippines’s Maxine Medina, Kenya's Mary Esther Were, France’s Iris Mittenaere, Haiti’s Raquel Pelissier, and Colombia's Andrea Tovar.
Known for travelling with 17 suitcases for her pageant wardrobe, Suansane wowed fans from the moment she arrived in Manila.
She even captivated Filipinos’ attention when she wore a Barong-Tagalog inspired top and a Philippine terno in two separate pre-pageant events.
But it was Miss France who eventually won the much-coveted crown.
