Sharon Cuneta commends husband Senator Kiko Pangilinan for his integrity: "We have NEVER benefited financially -- not even a peso added to our pockets in all the years he has been a public servant."

Sharon Cuneta said her husband, Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, “never benefited financially” from being a public servant.

The Megastar said this in a statement via Facebook yesterday, March 5.

Her post partly read, “Lord, I pray that someday soon, You will allow people who are so quick to judge, the chance to see just how pure my husband's heart and intentions are for the country.

“That he, like You have taught us, wants only justice and fairness.

“That we have NEVER benefited financially -- not even a peso added to our pockets in all the years he has been a public servant -- but instead have done nothing but give -- not just of our treasure, but our sacrifices, our hearts, our souls.

“May people come up to our children someday to say only how Kiko has impacted their lives positively; how proud they should be to have such a Godly and upright man for their father, no matter his imperfections as a human being.”

Sharon did not specify what exactly spurred her defense of her husband from detractors, but it is no secret that the senator has been taking some heat following a series of events in Philippine politics recently.

Senator Kiko, along with Senators Risa Hontiveros and Bam Aquino, have been ousted from their respective senate committee chairmanships last February 27.

All three are Liberal Party allies who have been vocal about their opposition to certain policies of the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.

And Senator Kiko is currently the acting president of Liberal Party, the former ruling party during the administration of former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

HAPPY MARRIED LIFE. On a different note, Sharon also shared, via her Facebook post, details of her three-night vacation with Senator Kiko in Hong Kong.

The Megastar noted that it was just like their “short but sweet honeymoon” when they got married 21 years ago.

She further wrote: “Thank You Lord, for my husband.

“I have known good men in my lifetime, but just as I prayed for, You seem to truly have given me the ONE who was meant for me -- with the best heart, and with the most love for my battle-scarred little heart.

“May we, no matter what other trials we may go through, last forever.”
