For the first time, newly-engaged couple Maxene Magalona and Robby Mananquil open up about their new relationship status.
Looking so in love with each other, the two share how their engagement changed their relationship.
Rob popped the question on Valentine's Day in Tokyo, Japan.
The 37-year-old musician gleefully relates, "Ako mas excited, mas naging close.
"Siyempre mas naging strong iyong bond namin."
Beaming, Maxene says, "Ako, sobra niya akong ginulat talaga, e.
"I was so surprised and he did everything so perfectly.
"Parang tuwang-tuwa ako na ganoon niya ginawa iyon, sobrang quiet, walang ibang tao na nasa paligid namin.
"It was just the two of us.
"It's like alam niya at kilala niya talaga ako.
"Iyon yung important dun, e. Yung makita mo na iyong partner mo kilalang-kilala ka niya.
"So through that proposal alone, I fell in love with him even more."
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) caught up with Maxene and Rob at the Bench Fashion Week Day 1 at the Bench Tower in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, yesterday, March 10, 2017.
The 30-year-old actress also recalls what was going through her mind when her boyfriend of about two years proposed to her.
"Sabi ko talaga, 'Is he tying his shoe laces?'" Maxene remembers while laughing.
"Kasi sobrang... Ganoon pala talaga iyon, when it happens, it feels so surreal na hindi mo alam."
She adds, "When he was kneeling down, sabi ko, parang it all happened so fast.
"Parang I found myself tongue-tied, like super speechless."
He then simply asked Maxene, "I love you so much. Will you ride the roller coaster of life with me?"
Her reaction, "I started crying, and I said, 'Yes! Yes!'
"Parang nagulat talaga ako. Kasi, 'di ba, usually may speech?"
PERFECT TIMING. How did Rob know that it was already the perfect time to ask his then-girlfriend's hand for marriage?
"Well, I was actually, nung first year pa lang kami, I’ve been wanting to do it," the musician tells PEP.
"I was thinking about doing it the holidays but that was the first time my family and her family was gonna meet.
"So I thought it would be proper na mag-meet muna sila.
"And then eksakto, bago mag-Christmas nakakita kami ng mga really nice tickets for Japan. We were supposed to go with Maxene's brother Frank.
"Cut long story short, hindi natuloy si Frank because of a wedding.
"So sabi namin, ‘Hey, why not spend Valentine’s there?
"And then from there, we thought of giving as Christmas gifts to my parents iyong tickets nila for Valentine’s, but of course, I knew na."
WEDDING DETAILS. According to the couple, there are no details yet.
They simply want to enjoy their new relationship status and just make the most out of it.
Maxene tells PEP, "Siyempre, maraming kailangan paghandaan, lalo na when it’s your special day, our special day.
"We really want to take our time not to, parang isipin yung pressure.
"Kailangan talaga pinag-iisipan iyong ganoong bagay.
"So we’re just taking our time and ini-enjoy muna namin ang pagiging engaged."
