Regine Tolentino: "Yung mga anak ko, sila yung nagpu-push sa akin, 'Mama, you have to get up. You have to dress up. Let's go shopping. Let's travel.' My empowered daughters were the ones who really gave me the strength to be like, 'Kaya mo iyan. Wala iyan.' That's all that matters."

Malaking tulong daw kay Regine Tolentino ang suporta ng mga anak niyang sina Reigne at Reigen para maka-move on at maka-recover sa sakit mula sa paghihiwalay nila ng dati niyang asawa at tatay ng kanyang mga anak na si Lander Vera-Perez two years ago.

Saad niya, “Like many people, I also had struggles, especially nung time ng separation, na parang you feel depressed and you don’t want to get out of bed, you don’t want to get dressed, you don’t want to do anything, and you just want to stay home and feel secluded.

“I’ve gone through that, it’s a mental pain, it’s physical pain, it’s an emotional pain, it’s a struggle, di ba?

“But I overcame it through the support of my kids talaga.

“Yung mga anak ko, sila yung nagpu-push sa akin, ‘Mama, you have to get up. You have to dress up. Let’s go shopping. Let’s travel.’

“My empowered daughters were the ones who really gave me the strength to be like, ‘Kaya mo iyan. Wala iyan.’ That’s all that matters.

“So, I have more aggression, more angst, and more gusto in doing everything that I like to do now because of that support.”

EXPLAINING TO HER KIDS.

“Well, my kids are actually very smart.

“Kahit anong tago or comfort na inaano ko, they know what’s going on.

“They’re at an age na mature, and so they are the ones who are actually more mature than I am.

“They give me the strength to move on and just say, ‘That’s nothing. We got this. Kaya mo iyan, Ma. Let’s keep what we’re doing and we’ll be fine together.’

“So, they handled it better than I am, and that’s what helped me get through it.

“Here I am today, still dancing and enjoying, and just feeling great.

“I love being a mom. I love being able to dance and i-explore yung lahat ng possibilities sa buhay.

“That’s it. I still feel complete.”

“My kids are super open to me.

“They always tell me, ‘Hey, go out. Hang out with your friends and do something with them.’

“So, ako, ‘Sige, pag may time.’

“However, right now I’m quite busy.

“There’s a lot of things happening for me this year, so maybe after those things get accomplished, then I will be more free to move around and explore and start over.”

Patuloy ni Regine, “As of right now, as you can see, I’m active with my shows Unang Hirit and Go Get Fit, and the Organique TV, and different tours, and with my upcoming dance album.

“I’m also busy with my business sa Regine’s Boutique and sa RT Studios, especially we have summer workshops coming out, and busy rin sa Zumba fitness and may mga tapings pa.

“Kaya focus muna ako sa work.

“This is my first time to be able to really focus on my career and to enjoy it more, to really have fun and do my best at it.”

DANCING ALSO HELPED HEAL HER BROKEN HEART.

Lahad ni Regine, “I also overcame the pain through dancing.

“Honestly, before, I would start the day with a heavy heart.

“But when you’re there already [sa venue], you’ll realize that all that baggage and all that negativity is erased and replaced by good vibes and happy hormones.

“And that’s what got me through it, isayaw ko na lang.

“And when I’m on stage noong una, ‘Sino ba diyan ang nakakaramdam ng pain or ng hugot?’

“Sila naman, ‘Me, ako,’ kanya-kanya ng problems, di ba? Every woman goes through it.

“From them, doon ko nakukuha yung energy at saka yung inspiration.

“Kasi yung iba nga namamatayan, yung iba nga may karamdaman.

“So, we all kind of helped each other do it by dancing.

“I’m just really excited right now, my energy is all going towards this whole health and wellness advocacy that I have.

“I’d like to inspire people to dance with me.
