Sponge Cola vocalist Yael Yuzon is getting mixed reactions for his “on-the-spot” English translation of an OPM hit song in a mall show.
He performed Spongecola's 2004 hit song “Jeepney” with English translation at the launch of a mobile brand in SM Megamall Fashion Hall this Tuesday, April 18.
Before his performance, the singer said to the audience, "Technically, I'm not allowed to speak in Filipino, so I'm going to translate this song for you."
Yael shared the video of his performance on Twitter with this caption: “On the spot yan! Translating on the go”

In another post, Yael stressed that he had fun performing.
Part of his caption read: “Man that version of Jeepney was really something. Haha. Had a blast performing at SM Mega Fashion Hall today for the #LGG6PH launch event.”
While many netizens commended Yael for being a “pro,” there were some who criticized his performance.
There were also a few who bashed the mall’s management for allegedly prohibiting the singer from performing in Tagalog.
