Kim Chiu admits to feeling awkward when she first met former onscreen partner and ex-boyfriend Gerald Anderson on the set of their reunion teleserye Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin.
Prior to this, the ex-couple last worked together in the 2012 movie 24/7 In Love.
At the press conference of their new drama series last night, April 24, the 27-year-old actress related, “Siyempre, noong una, awkward talaga, kasi hindi naman kami super friends nito, e.
"'Hi-hello' lang talaga kami sa ASAP. 'Hi, kumusta? Okay naman. Ba-bye.'
“Tapos, yung mga eksena namin, chummy-chummy, ganyan-ganyan.
“Hala, parang after ilang years, okay, sige gawin na natin 'to.
Kim did not elaborate how her relationship with Gerald Anderson ended.
However, she assured, “Pero okay na ngayon.
“I'm very happy na yung mga time na yun, nangyari before pa, noong mga bata pa kami.
"At least ngayon, natuto na kami."
The awkwardness slowly disappeared when Kim and Gerald started working together again for Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin.
She said, “Kung may wall, siguro hindi namin ito gagawin.
Kim and Gerald were constant loveteam partners since their stint on Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition in 2006, where Kim became the First Big Placer.
They were paired together in numerous TV and movie projects—including the hit teleseryes Sana Maulit Muli (2007), My Girl (2008), and Tayong Dalawa (2009); and blockbuster movies Paano Na Kaya (2010) and Till My Heartaches End (2010).
Their four-year partnership blossomed into a real romantic relationship, but they had a bitter ending.
FORGIVENESS. Talking about her past with Gerald, Kim said she learned an important lesson in the seven years that they were separated.
“Why not just forgive the person and just go on with your life? Mas happy yung pakiramdam.”
Kim added, with confidence, “Look at us! Okay naman, masaya naman kaming lahat!”
