Big Bang's Choi Seung Hyun, more popularly known as T.O.P, was reportedly rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Mokdong Hospital in South Korea today, June 6.
An unnamed friend of T.O.P confirmed the news to South Korean news agency OSEN.
The source said that the 29-year-old K-pop star was found unconscious and it might be related to drug overdose.
T.O.P's friend reportedly said, as translated in English, "He's still undergoing testing, and the results are not yet out.
"However, it is suspected that it's overdose.
"He's been going through a hard time because of the recent events and has been very stressed about it.
"We hope he awakens quickly."
Allkpop.com posted YG Entertainment's official statement confirming that T.O.P. was indeed rushed to the hospital.
The statement reads, as translated in English, "We've been told T.O.P is receiving intensive care for a drug overdose after being taken to the emergency room. His mother is currently staying beside him at the hospital."
A representative of YG Entertainment gave Star News an update about his current condition and said that T.O.P is already responsive but is yet to fully regain consciousness.
Another source from YG clarified details about T.O.P.'s condition.
The source said, “T.O.P has been taken to the Intensive Care Unit and is receiving intensive care. He normally takes tranquilizers, but according to the police he took more than usual this time.
“We are still checking whether or not he has regained consciousness yet. Please wait for developments.”
Last Thursday, June 1, T.O.P made headlines after receiving a positive result for marijuana use from hair-follicle testing.
Earlier reports said that the K-pop idol initially denied the accusation.
However, YG Entertainment later confirmed in an official statement that T.O.P admitted to smoking marijuana.
The entertain label announced, "First, we would like to express our deepest apologies.
"After confirming with the artist, we confirmed that Choi SeungHyun (T.O.P) has admited to smoking marijuana before his enlistment, and has finished all of the questionings in a cooperative manner.
"He admits his wrong doing and is currently repenting deeply. We once again apologize for causing trouble to everyone."
Seoul prosecutors reportedly said that T.O.P admitted to smoking marijuana in two separate occasions, back in October 9 and 14, 2016, with a female trainee.
Since February 2017, the YG Entertainment talent has been serving mandatory military service as part of Seoul Gangnam Police Department.
On Monday, June 5, T.O.P. was officially dismissed from military service duties because of his marijuana scandal.
T.O.P's military service will be put on hold and he will have to re-enlist after the verdict has been released.
Marijuana use is a criminal offense in South Korean.
Violators can be punished with a maximum of five years in prison, or a fine up to 50 million won ($44,640 or P2.2 million).
