Kris Aquino on her brother and former President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III being charged with usurpation and graft over the January 2015 Mamasapano massacre: "I think malaking tinik ang natanggal—for me ha, I'm speaking personally—nung nagsalita si President Duterte na as a president, sinasabi niya na hindi culpable ang kapatid ko nung panahong iyon."

Kris Aquino said her brother, former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, is admittedly going through a tough time as he was charged with usurpation of authority and graft by the Office of the Ombudsman due to his alleged hand in the January 2015 Mamasapano massacre.

This was in relation to the botched “Oplan Exodus”—aimed to neutralize Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli bin Hir alias Marwan and Filipino bomb maker Abdul Basit Usman—that killed 44 Special Action Forces (SAF) cops in a clash with rebels in Mamasapano, Mindanao.

Talking about her brother’s current state of mind, Kris said, “I’m sure that he’s human, di ba? Kahit sino di ba meron kang dadalhin na ano...

“Pero matatag siya, e.

“And I think lahat na puwede mong pagdaanan as a leader and post presidency, napagdaanan na niya.

“And alam ko rin talaga, na 100 percent ako naniniwala na he won’t only survive this, he’ll triumph over this.”

Kris spoke to entertainment reporters on the sidelines of the media event for her newest endorsement, which was held at Shangri-La The Fort last July 27.

The 46-year-old TV host and actress went on to say that she was a bit consoled after hearing President Rodrigo Duterte’s opinion on former President Aquino’s SAF 44 case.

Kris said, “I think malaking tinik ang natanggal—for me ha, I’m speaking personally—nung nagsalita si President Duterte na as a president, sinasabi niya na hindi culpable ang kapatid ko nung panahong iyon.

“Pero hindi natin alam. But everyday, may extra dasal lang.”

According to ABS-CBN news program Bandila’s July 17 report, President Duterte was quoted as saying in response to ex-President Aquino's case, “Bugok yung nagdesisyon. Siguro other damages but not criminal."

President Duterte added, “He was not usurping. He did not took an oath there and said, ‘I am assuming.’ Wala man.

“He was just being consulted.

“Kaya yung charge kay Aquino will fail.”

In the continuation of Kris’s interview, she maintained that she and her sisters Ballsy, Pinky, and Viel stand by their brother Noynoy.

“I think when you’re the only boy in the family, you don’t want your sisters to worry. So you shield your sisters.

“And bilang kapatid naman, you don’t want to ask questions that will add na pampabigat pa.

“All you can do really is to pray and to believe in the truth."

Kris underlined, “Buo ang prinsipyo namin.”
