Billy Crawford is all praises for Ogie Alcasid following the result of their individual audition for ABS-CBN’s newest talent show, Little Big Shots.
Speaking to entertainment reporters, he related, “Wala akong masabi kay Kuya Ogie.
"Sobrang humble, sobrang bait ni Kuya Ogie.
“Kasi nung in-announce na nila sa akin na napunta sa akin yung programa, ang unang nag-text sa akin, si Kuya Ogie.”
Billy continued, “Sabi niya, ‘Bro, I’m happy for you. I’m so proud of you. I will always be right here behind you anytime you need me.’”
Little Big Shots is an American talent show co-created by Ellen de Generes and Steve Harvey, with international adaptations distributed by Warner Bros.
It was the bosses from Warner Bros. who chose Billy to host the Philippine version of the talent show, which is replacing the time slot of The Voice Teens beginning August 12.
NO RIVALRY ISSUE WITH OGIE. The 35-year-old TV host-singer said there was never any rivalry issue between him and Ogie, emphasizing he has nothing but respect for the veteran actor, singer, and composer.
“It’s nothing about competition talaga... I’m still shocked na napunta nga sa akin.
"Pero wala akong masabi kay Kuya Ogie."
The It’s Showtime host further said there was no other showbiz personality around when he did his audition piece for ABS-CBN’s version of the children’s talent show.
“Hindi namin alam na pareho kaming nag-audition, to be honest.
“Nung sinabi lang sa akin, ‘Mag-audition ka. May bagong programa.’”
Billy went on to say that it was only much later that he learned Ogie also went through the same audition process.
“I think one day ahead si Kuya Ogie. Oo, nauna si Kuya Ogie.
“Tapos nung sinabi ni Sir Louie [Andrada] sa akin…
“Kasi usually pag management’s decision, sasabihin naman sa host, 'Sa ‘yo itong programang ito.'
“Ito yung first time na yung audition piece nga namin ni Kuya Ogie.”
Billy was interviewed after the press launch and advance screening of Little Big Shots, held at ABS-CBN Dolphy Theater, Tuesday night, August 8.
Last July 19, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) reported that Ogie had wished Billy good luck in hosting the show.
But Ogie also admitted that his wife Regine Velasquez felt sad when he did not get the job, only because she's a huge fan of the show hosted by Steve Harvey.

HOW BILLY GOT THE JOB. At last night’s presscon, ABS-CBN Business Unit Head Louie Andrada explained how Billy got the hosting job.
“Ang totoo po niyan, nagpa-audition kami para sa hosts, kasi this is the first time na makakatrabaho namin ang Warner.
“So, sila po ang may final say kung sino ang maghu-host.
“So, nagpa-audition kami and then we sent them the videos. Tapos after nun, sila po ang nag-decide.
“Sinabi po nila that Billy has the best chemistry with the kids kaya siya ang pinili.”
According to Billy, it was the first time that he did an audition piece for a hosting stint in ABS-CBN.
But he said he didn’t mind going through the process as he used to audition for his stints abroad.
Billy went on to describe his audition, “Ako lang, ang staff, wala pang set.
"There was no management... no one from abroad or anything.
“Kasi vinideohan yun, the audition, pinadala sa Warner Bros.
“I did three kids. Ginawa namin. Wala akong alam kung anong gagawin ko.
"Basta sinabi ni Sir Louie, sinabi ni Direk, ‘O, ito ang spiels, ito ang kailangan mo gawin.’
"And ayun, enjoy!"
