A rare moment, but the 2017 Star Magic Ball has paved the way for the beautiful stars of both ABS-CBN and GMA Network to co-mingle and party together on Saturday night, September 30, at the Makati Shangri-La.
Network rivalry seems to have become a non-issue, as some of Kapuso network's brightest stars got invited to the annual red-carpet event of ABS-CBN's talent arm, Star Magic.
And they accepted!
Take Heart Evangelista, lead actress of GMA-7's primetime series My Korean Jagiya, who turned up at the ball with husband Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero.
In her own Instagram post, Heart shows her happy reunion with Star Magic's chairman emeritus Johnny Manahan, better known as Mr. M.
Her caption reads, "I remember 19 years ago when he saw something in me and introduced me to showbiz. Nice to see my second dad and be reunited with you, Mr. M!"
Heart started her showbiz career in ABS-CBN in 1998, and transferred to GMA-7 in 2008.
MEGAN YOUNG AND MIKAEL DAEZ. Miss World 2013 Megan Young made an appearance with longtime boyfriend and fellow Kapuso star Mikael Daez.
It was in 2007 when the 27-year-old StarStruck Season 2 alumna transferred from GMA-7 to ABS-CBN and joined the roster of Star Magic talents.
She returned to GMA-7 in 2015.
JANINE GUTIERREZ AND RAYVER CRUZ. Resident Star Magic artist Rayver Cruz seems to be firming up his growing closeness with Kapuso actress Janine Gutierrez: he brought her to the ball as his date.
Last June, the 28-year-old Kapamilya actor admitted in an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that he is courting Janine.
In a separate PEP report that same month, Janine acknowledged that she finds Rayver "mabait, masayang kasama, and sobrang nakakatawa."
KRISTINE HERMOSA AND OYO SOTTO. A longtime Star Magic talent, Kristine Hermosa and her husband Oyo Sotto have attended the annual ball at least four times since 2009.
The 34-year-old actress was among ABS-CBN's prized stars, until she started keeping a low profile when she and Oyo tied the knot in 2011.
Oyo, for his part, was once a Kapamilya, appearing in ABS-CBN shows between 2007 to 2010.
Oyo and Kristine were last seen in GMA-7's weekly sitcom, Hay Bahay, which started airing in June 2016 and ended in August this year.
EMPRESS SCHUCK. Flying solo, Kapuso actress Empress Schuck was also spotted at the ball.
The 24-year-old actress was a Kapamilya talent for 17 years before when she transferred to GMA-7 in 2014.
Empress took a break from showbiz when she got pregnant in 2015.
She went back to work and made appearances in Kapuso programs beginning May this year.
